I have been trying to perform a repair of Windows booting from the Windows XP Home Edition disc, however I get asked to type in the Administrator password, and I don't have one as I did not use one when installing Windows. I tried not entering a password and hit Enter, however it then displays C:\Windows and I dont know what to do next.

Any suggestions please.

Hello and Welcome to TSF,

When does it asks you for a password?
right away before booting from the cd?

Use the links posted by techfind. Once you get to the C:\windows prompt you have successfully logged in and can start running commands.

Are you trying to fix the slow start up speed?

The problem is here is that you are entering the recovery console.

To perform a repair install:
press enter to boot from xp home edition cd
when it stops at the first screen, choose setup xp
when it stops again, highlight the xp installation and Press R for repair.

After repairing xp, make sure you revisit windows updates through the icon
on all program list under the start button.
