My System

Hi Robert,

I use the one supplied with XP for a good reason. It grew up from Norton's Utilities back in the DOS days. Microsoft's first attempt was a failure and caused many folks to reformat and reinstall DOS. Norton's was rock solid, so Microsoft bought the rights to use it in their next version of DOS. Microsoft's defragmenter has worked very well every since.

Unless Diskeeper, Perfect Disk, and O & O offer other features, I see no reason to use them. Defragmenting is a simple concept. All of the programs should end up with the same results.

Have a nice day,
Mack1

Thanks guys I'll take it under advisement. Right now I'm running the defragmenter that comes with XP and it's 49% percent done after running for an hour so far.

Little too long for my liking but whatever.

How often do you defrag? . . have you tried defraging in safe mode?
