What software program are you trying to install? Is it a download? or is it from a CD? Have you tried to find a more recent version from the manufacturers web site?

I would contact the manufacturer, you know you can file online and not have to download any software? UFile ONLINE | File your Tax Return Online and Maximize your Refund

Thank you again
with some detective work I found that the installation program requres .NET 4.5, which is not compatible with windows XP. I have had contacted the publisher already, will let you know about the outcome.

The function "CreateProcesssWithTokenW" was first introduced in Server 2003 and was never available in XP. That was just the first error encountered and caused termination of the install. It never got far enough to see that .NET 4.5 was not present.

.NET 4.5 was introduced in 2012 and is compatible with Vista and later.

This is just one example of software that is not compatible with XP. As time goes by there will be many more. When on OS looses support by Microsoft this serves as a sign to software suppliers that they should consider doing the same. Many will do so.
