I reformated my computer and installed XP. So I think everything is cool, I leave the computer running and it goes into standby. I bring it out of standby I got the windows login screen. I am confused since I didn't set a password or anything. When I boot up it doesnt ask me for a password, it directly loads my account. I went into user accounts in Control Panel think I could just turn off the password, that didn't work. I ended up just creating another admin account. But I can't even delete the original admin account. So what do I do? It seems problematic. I could change the settings to get my computer not to go into standby. But I don't want to because I want my computer to go into stand by. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My System

go to control panel --> appearance and themes ---> chose a screensaver(stay with me on this one) --> select the power button at the bottom of this window ---> advanced tab ---> then untick the box that says prompt for password when computer resumes from standby.

That may solve your problems. if not someone else here may have a better solution

An old windows trick dateing back as far as windows 3.11

if the system asks for a password when no password has been set then just tap enter or click OK or whatever without entering any deails in to the boxes

Changeling its not working, I should have mentioned I have tried it before. Thanks though. The techmaster I did what you said, hopefully it works.

**UPDATE**I knew windows could be retarded at times but this is ridiculous. So basically when I was in the admin account it prompted me for the old password to change to a new one. But when I created the second admin account it let me change the original admin's password without prompting me for the old one. *** IS THIS BS?! Next time I might just go Ubuntu instead of windows SOB's!!!
