?? All 2TB HDD's initialized MBR work with Windows XP SP3 32bit?! Part of Service Pack 3's updates were for Larger capacity HDD's up to 2.3TB, hard drive does Windows XP Pro SP3 - Microsoft Community
XP with SP1 had a limit of 1.37GB.
I see by your profile, you have not yet upgraded to XP SP3, so do it now: Download Windows XP Service Pack 3 Final Build 5512 - FileHippo.com

xp sp3 works best if you have a working install and move everything over to the 2tb drive.

I was intending to buy 4 Terabtyes Seagate Ext. Hard drive, but I guess won't work for Windows Xp ?

I did try to upgrade to Xp sp3, sometime ago, however when I was upgrading it froze on "upgrading please wait" message for a couple of hours without progressing.
So I cancelled and didn't bother pursing it any further.

Thanks

The support for larger drives was put into SP2, but you should still install SP3.
HDD drives over the size of 2.2TB are not supported in Windows XP 32bit. HDD's over the size of 2TB must be initialized as GPT with UEFI Bios and require a 64bit OS. All drives under 2TB can be initialized MBR as all standard drives are, and support any 32bit OS, like XP. You can use any HDD over the size of 2TB like a 4TB drive as a secondary storage drive, you just can't install and boot Windows XP on it.

I just wish to use ext. 4 TB as a secondary drive for files storage and don't wish to install win. xp on it. It will work showing I have 4 TB disk space capacity if I plugin to usb port on my xp xomputer ? I can copy files to it ?

Thanks

Yes, if you get a RAW internal 4TB HDD and put it in your own enclosure, you have to go to into Disk Management and Initialize it GPT and not MBR once partitioned and formatted NTFS it will show all 4GB's as a storage drive in XP.
If you get an external 4TB HDD already in an enclosure, it will come pre initialized GPT, partitioned and Formatted NTFS and be ready to use in XP, just plug it in.

Windows XP doesn't handle GPT, unless it's XP 64 bits (which seems extremely unlikely). Source: https://www.microsoft.com/resources/....mspx?mfr=true
