I am doing a massive computer clean up. there are some huge files on my machine and i don't know what they are. Is there a site that lists every file that can't be deleted? thanks in advance, Sam.
alright people. i did a search for files over 10000 mb. a bunch of files came up. some i knew what they were and some i didn't. all i was asking for was a link to site that has a list of files that shouldn't be deleted on XP.
I seriously doubt that 10GB files would be a part of XP, considering the total installation is 1.5GB minimum space. Why don't you list the file name(s) and types?
I don't know of any such site. All XP installations are different, depending on the hardware and the options selected by the user when first setting up.
Sys files should be left alone, or removed using the program's uninstall feature.
How much free space do you have on your hard drive, and how much are you hoping to recover?
Make a System Restore point before deleting important system files, and make sure you have your XP CD handy to do any repairs.
