Be sure you completely uninstall Norton before installing new AV software. To do this the smart way, choose your new one, download the installer, then uninstall Norton, then install the new AV.

Please use the instructions on this page to completely uninstall your Norton Products.

Here are two very good free Antivirus products which are available:

• Avast!
  
  
• AVG
  

If you do not have a firewall, here are 4 free ones available for personal use:

• ZoneAlarm
• Avast Antivirus/Firewall
• Tiny Personal Firewall
• OutPost Firewall

im trying to get rid of my nortan products. And when i go to the link he provided me.

In the link on step 1 it says go to this link to run ActiveFix. And then it asks me to download activeX so i can use ActiveFix. I download activex but it says i havent downloaded it.

Yup, as soon as you have run those programs you can delete them, unless you plan on installing Norton again you won't need them.
