Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
![]() Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop. Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present). Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply. IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other option until you are directed to do so! Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user. http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/proc...processutil.htm Run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, it helped...on with the fix now.
Please print out or copy these instructions/tutorial to Notepad as the internet will not (while in Safe Mode) be available to you at certain points of the removal process. Make sure to work through all the Steps in the exact order in which they are listed below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before moving on with the fixes. Please download the trial version of Ewido anti-malware from here: http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido. Ewido manual updates. Make sure to close Ewido before installing the update. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MediaPipe P2P Loader] "C:\Program Files\p2pnetworks\mpp2pl.exe" /H O20 - Winlogon Notify: ddabc - ddabc.dll (file missing) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.
Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist: p2pnetworks --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab: * Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders. * Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option. * Also make sure there is no checkmark beside Hide file extensions for known file types * Click Yes to confirm and then click OK. Delete the following if they exist: C:\Program Files\p2pnetworks C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddabc.dll --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Open the SmitfraudFix Folder, then double-click smitfraudfix.cmd file to start the tool. Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter. Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish. You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?" answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter. The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace wininet.dll. Answer Yes to the question "Replace infected file ?" by typing Y and hit Enter. A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process, if you computer does not restart automatically please do it yourself manually. Reboot in Safe Mode. The tool will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply. ______________________________ Clean out your Temporary Internet files. Proceed like this:
Empty the Recycle Bin by right-clicking the Recycle Bin icon on your Desktop, and then clicking Empty Recycle Bin. ______________________________ Close ALL open Windows / Programs / Folders. Please start Ewido, and run a full scan.
Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save Report.
______________________________ Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd Select option #3 - Delete Trusted zone by typing 3 and press Enter Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection. ______________________________ We need to update your Java as it is out of date. The older version has security holes that malware writers exploit. Updating Java:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan Click on the "Free To Use ActiveScan" located on the top right hand corner
--------------------------------------------------- Please post:

Get the smitrem file below (this is the more updated version and should remove the infection properly):
Print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below. Download smitRem at http://noahdfear.geekstogo.com/click...click.php?id=1 and save the file to your desktop. If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow the download and setup instructions at http://rstones12.geekstogo.com/adawareSE_setup.htm. Otherwise, check for updates. Don't run it yet! Download CleanUp! http://cleanup.stevengould.org/ (Alternate Link if main link don't work - http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/CleanUp.exe ) and install it. Don't run it yet. Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. CleanUp! deletes EVERYTHING out of your temp/temporary folders, it does not make backups. If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, make a backup of these before running CleanUp!. Run CleanUp! and click on the Options button. Uncheck 'Scan local drives for temporary files'. Also uncheck those two Newsgroup entries if you don't want to delete them. Click OK and then click on the CleanUp! button. Let it run. After it's done, choose Yes to logoff. Go to Start->Run and type in regsvr32 /u occache.dll and hit OK. Delete these: C:\Program Files\DownloadManager\insdl.dll C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\f3initialsetup1.0.0.15.inf C:\WINDOWS\system32\f3PSSavr.scr Go to Start->Run and type in regsvr32 occache.dll and hit OK. Run the smitRem.exe tool you downloaded earlier. There should be a folder called smitrem created on your desktop. Open it and double click on the RunThis file. Follow the prompts on the screen. Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish. The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Post that log along with all others requested in your next reply. Open Ad-aware and do a full scan. Remove all it finds. Right click on your desktop and go to Properties. Then go to the Desktop tab and click on Customize Desktop. Go to the Web tab and delete everything there except My Current Home Page (which should be unchecked). Click OK. Restart your computer to get back to Normal Mode. Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer at Panda ActiveScan http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm * Click on 'Scan your PC' button. There should be a popup - if you have a pop-up blocker, make sure it's not blocking it. * Click 'Check Now' & a pop-up window will appear. * Enter your Country, State and E-mail Address & click 'Scan Now' - begin downloading Panda's ActiveX controls (8 MB size). * Begin the scan by selecting My Computer. * If it finds any malware, it will offer you a report. Ignore any entry it finds (since it wants you to buy the program for removal) as we will address this later. * Click on see report. Then click Save report. * Post that log in your next reply. Then post the Panda log here along with the logs for smitfiles.txt and a new HijackThis log.

Acouple more things to take care of....
Clear your IE cookies. Start>Settings>Control Panel>Internet Options>General tab>under Temporary files, click on Delete Cookies. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go to Start->Run and type in regedit and hit OK. Go to File->Export and save the registry somewhere as a backup. Close the Registry Editor now. Go to Start->Run and type in notepad and hit OK. Then copy and paste the following into Notepad: REGEDIT4 [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{07B18EA9-A523-4961-B6BB-170DE4475CCA}] Save the file as "delete.reg". Make sure to save it with the quotes. Close Notepad. Double click on the delete.reg file and choose Yes to merge/add it to the registry. You may delete the file afterwards. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cust...search/ie.html R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {00A6FAF6-072E-44cf-8957-5838F569A31D} - C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\SrchAstt\2.bin\MWSSRCAS.DLL (file missing) O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MyWebSearch Email Plugin] C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\bar\2.bin\mwsoemon.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [My Web Search Bar] rundll32 C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\bar\2.bin\MWSBAR.DLL,S --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Login on your usual account. Make sure to close any open browsers. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist: * My Web Search * My Way Speedbar * Search Assistant - My Way --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go to Start>Run then copy and paste, or type the following, then press Enter: regsvr32 /u occache.dll Delete these if present: C:\WINDOWS\DOWNLOADED PROGRAM FILES\f3initialsetup1.0.0.15.inf C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch Go to Start>Run then copy and paste, or type the following, then press Enter: regsvr32 occache.dll Please let me know of any problems you encounter, or files you cannot find. --------------------------------------------------- Empty Your Recycle Bin. Run CleanUp again. Boot into normal mode. Run this online scan to get a final opinion: Establish an internet connection & perform an online scan with Internet Explorer at Kaspersky Online Scanner Answer Yes, when prompted to install an ActiveX component.
--------------------------------------------------- Run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What we're doing with those commands in unhiding files in Downloaded Program Files folder which might otherwise be hidden from you....then we have you delete the files, then re-register the dll.
You should get two different messsages, the first one should tell you dllunregister completed, the other should tell you register completed. The commands and messages may look similar, but they are different. If you're copying the command into the box, you will get the different messages. Were you able to delete that file and folder I listed? If not, please re-do those instructions, taking care to use the correct command. Most if those entries are in System Restore, and easily removed. They indicate deleted files..... Do this next: Delete these files: C:\Program Files\DownloadManager\api.exe C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\riched20.dll If they resist deletion, boot to safe mode and delete them from there. CLEAR & RESET SYSTEM RESTORE'S CACHE Go to Start >> Run - type or copy/paste control sysdm.cpl,,4 & press Enter * Tick on the checkbox - Turn off System Restore on all drives * Click Apply Turn it back 'On' by unticking the same checkbox & click Apply, and then OK Empty your Recycle Bin. This will add some layers of protection....an AV program is necessary, but not the only requirement for a well-protected system Download IE-SpyAD - Extract the contents to a new folder From within the folder, double-click install.bat Select Option #2 - Install the new IE-SPYAD list. Then return to the main menu. Select option #4 - Add the old porn sites domain The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one that will restrict known ad sites form serving you unsolicited advertisements. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is the IP of your local computer.
Download SpywareBlaster 3.5.1 Install & update SpywareBlaster with the latest definitions. After you have updated, click the button - enable protection for all unprotected items How is your System Behaving? We should be near done.

update
system seems to be running fine although i have a couple of questions.
1.) do i need to run any more scans on my system for you? 2.) would it be wise to keep all of the programs you have had me install on my PC or are there some that i should take off? Thanks again for being such a big help, I really appreciate it. |

You may remove SmitfraudFix and Smitrem, the others you should keep.
Ewido is a great anti malware scanner to have around, you can update it and run it once a week or so. Same with Adaware. CleanUp I use a few times a week, it keeps the temp files from building up. If you were able to delete those last items I had listed, then we should be done. If you're unsure if you were successful, run another online scan and I'll be glad to review it for you. Based on my premise that you are now clean, I'll post some final housekeeping and protection instructions...some of the tools you already have (IESPYAD, SpywareBlaster, MVPS hosts file), some are not needed on your system(AV and Firewall), it's a stock speech I use.... Well done. Your logs are clean. Any more issues? If not you should be good to go. We still have a few items to address. Reset hidden/system files and folders
Create a new System Restore point
Please ensure that you have already patched your system against the recent WMF exploit. Go to this page to get the KB912919 patch. Enable Windows Auto Update
Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programs:
If you do not have a firewall, here are 4 free ones available for personal use: In light of your recent troubles, I'm sure you'll like to avoid any future infections. Please take a look at these well written articles If you want to fight back the Malware Writers that have made your life a misery, please take a look here and read what you can do against it. Please respond to this thread one more time so we can mark this thread as resolved.
