Hello,
My notebook has been temporary freezing everytime I open a folder or program. I have to wait few minutes before it upload to the notebook. Sometime it freezes forever and I cannot shut down. Another problem I have is that slow internet connection. It looks like it has been prevented to surf the web from IE or mozilla. Sometime access ok temporary. I also can hear that some program is running from the background. When that happen, my notebook will freeze until the program stop. Then I can use temporary until it starts to run again. I already run ADware, Spybot, CWshredder. All give clean bill. I submit below HijackThis log for your attention: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.0 Scan saved at 10:12:55 PM, on 4/12/2006 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\ibmpmsvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\CDAC11BA.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\cisvc.exe C:\Program Files\ewido\security suite\ewidoctrl.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\inetinfo.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7Debug\mdm.exe C:\PROGRA~1\TRENDM~1\INTERN~2\PcCtlCom.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\QCONSVC.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\tcpsvcs.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\snmp.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\PROGRA~1\TRENDM~1\INTERN~2\Tmntsrv.exe C:\PROGRA~1\TRENDM~1\INTERN~2\tmproxy.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\mqsvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\mqtgsvc.exe C:\PROGRA~1\TRENDM~1\INTERN~2\TmPfw.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntvdm.exe C:\WINDOWS\AGRSMMSG.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\atiptaxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\tp4serv.exe C:\PROGRA~1\ThinkPad\UTILIT~1\TP98TRAY.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\RunDll32.exe C:\OPLIMIT\ocrawr32.exe C:\PROGRA~1\ThinkPad\CONNEC~1\Qctray.exe C:\PROGRA~1\ThinkPad\PkgMgr\HOTKEY\TPHKMGR.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswctrl.exe C:\PROGRA~1\TRENDM~1\INTERN~2\PccGuide.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\AEIWLSTA.EXE C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_04\bin\jusched.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead Photo Express 5 SE\calcheck.exe C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead Photo Explorer 8.0 SE Basic\Monitor.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\PROGRA~1\PANICW~1\POP-UP~1\PSFree.exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe C:\Program Files\IBM\Bluetooth Software\BTTray.exe C:\Program Files\Microtek\ScanWizard 5\ScannerFinder.exe C:\Program Files\SpywareGuard\sgmain.exe C:\Program Files\IBM\Bluetooth Software\BTStackServer.exe C:\Program Files\SpywareGuard\sgbhp.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuauclt.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\notepad.exe C:\Program Files\DeluxeFTP\DeluxeFTP.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\cidaemon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\cidaemon.exe C:\Program Files\HijackThis.exe R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.yahoo.com/ F3 - REG:win.ini: load=C:\OPLIMIT\ocraware.exe O2 - BHO: AcroIEHlprObj Class - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Reader\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.ocx O2 - BHO: SpywareGuard Download Protection - {4A368E80-174F-4872-96B5-0B27DDD11DB2} - C:\Program Files\SpywareGuard\dlprotect.dll O2 - BHO: (no name) - {53707962-6F74-2D53-2644-206D7942484F} - C:\PROGRA~1\SPYBOT~1\SDHelper.dll O2 - BHO: Google Toolbar Helper - {AA58ED58-01DD-4d91-8333-CF10577473F7} - c:\program files\google\googletoolbar2.dll O3 - Toolbar: &Google - {2318C2B1-4965-11d4-9B18-009027A5CD4F} - c:\program files\google\googletoolbar2.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AGRSMMSG] AGRSMMSG.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ATIModeChange] Ati2mdxx.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AtiPTA] atiptaxx.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TrackPointSrv] tp4serv.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TPTRAY] C:\PROGRA~1\ThinkPad\UTILIT~1\TP98TRAY.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BMMGAG] RunDll32 C:\PROGRA~1\ThinkPad\UTILIT~1\pwrmonit.dll,StartPwrMonitor O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QCTRAY] C:\PROGRA~1\ThinkPad\CONNEC~1\Qctray.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TP4EX] tp4ex.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TPHOTKEY] C:\PROGRA~1\ThinkPad\PkgMgr\HOTKEY\TPHKMGR.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dla] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswctrl.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AEIWLSTA.EXE] AEIWLSTA.EXE START O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [pccguide.exe] "C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Internet Security 2005\pccguide.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_04\bin\jusched.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Ulead Photo Express Calendar Checker] C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead Photo Express 5 SE\calcheck.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Ulead AutoDetector] C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead Photo Explorer 8.0 SE Basic\Monitor.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MsmqIntCert] regsvr32 /s mqrt.dll O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ctfmon.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [PopUpStopperFreeEdition] "C:\PROGRA~1\PANICW~1\POP-UP~1\PSFree.exe" O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background O4 - Startup: SpywareGuard.lnk = C:\Program Files\SpywareGuard\sgmain.exe O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Reader Speed Launch.lnk = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\reader_sl.exe O4 - Global Startup: BTTray.lnk = ? Welcome to TSF
Please download CleanUp! and install it. Do not run it yet! Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows:
WARNING - CleanUp! will delete all files and folders contained within Temporary Directories. If you knowingly have items you would like to keep that are stored in these locations; Move Them Now!!! Establish an internet connection & perform an online scan with Internet Explorer at Kaspersky Online Scanner Answer Yes, when prompted to install an ActiveX component.

Thanks for fast reply.
I did Kasperky online scan with result "report is empty". I still hear baground program running. When it runs, the notebook freezes. When it stops, the notebook is OK. Now, I cannot access website from IE and Mozilla. I do not why as I just used IE for online scanning. It looks like the background program is involved. I am just warned high alert by Trendmicro antivirus for MS04-041. For your info, yesterday I installed IIS (Windows server for PC as test for .asp file). Could this be a problem? I installed Spyware Doctor last week but unistalled it on Tuesday as I thought it was doing background scanning. When I uninstalled it, the background program still running. Please help |

Does Ewido find anything in Safe Mode? Does this freezing occur in Safe Mode?
Let's try disabling some programs from startup to see if it helps. Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following if they still exist and hit 'Fix Checked' after you checked the last one: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_04\bin\jusched.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MsmqIntCert] regsvr32 /s mqrt.dll - not sure if this might be causing the problem, so fix it also O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Reader Speed Launch.lnk = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\reader_sl.exe O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE Restart...Report back the status...

Sorry for the delay.
Ewido scanning showing clean report. I did as per your instructions and below is latest HijackThis log. I have problem access website from IE and Mozilla when using broadband connection. It says time out. When I closed either IE or Mozilla, the notebook will hang or freeze for some minutes before it starts to function again. However, when I used dialed up. I have no problems accessing website both with IE or Mozilla. I am using DeluxeFTP for file transfer. I cannot connect to the server with this program when using broadband connection. When I close the FTP program, the notebook will freeze or hang for few minutes before it function again. However, when I use dialed up, it has no problem to connect and execute file transfer. However, when doing antivirus or spyware update, I have no problem with both broadband and dialed up. They both work efficiently. Please help. You are using an outdated version of Hijack This. Please delete your current version and download HijackThis. Double-click on the file you just downloaded. Click on the "Unzip" button to install. It will by default install to the directory - C:\PROGRAM FILES\HIJACKTHIS\
Run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This may not be malware related, in which case, you'll receive more effective help in one of our other subforums here. Sounds like an issue with the FTP program or firewall permissions.

No, that entry is legit:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/star....exe-1351.html http://www.liutilities.com/products/...rary/tfswctrl/ Drive letter access to HP's and Veritas' version of DirectCD. Does the same thing as DirectCD. From HP - "This is a needed file as it controles the readability of the Combo drives. Without this file loading the end user will be able to burn CD's but wont be able to read them. The drive itself will be able to read store bought master Cd's without the file but not burnt ones" As your HJT log, Ewido, and Kaspersky are all showing nothing, I'd venture to say you may need to ask in our other forums, as this does not appear to be malware related. Perhaps the folks in XP or Networking can help you solve your issue.

Hi Jeff2 -
I saw your post in Networking, and that seems like it provides enough info. Hope they can help you solve it out.
