Hi,
I have run into a situation where IE windows just keep opening and opening (kind of like the energizer bunny). This occurs even if I have rebooted and leave the systen idle without touching a thing. Funny thing is, all of the windows appear to be legitimate sights although all of them advertising I have followed the five steps diected in the read this before posting thread and the only result worth noting is that the Adaware VX2 removal tool v2.0 finds a potential new variant but wants me to upload a log file rather than allowing me to clean or repair it. It never goes beyond that first find. Anyway here is my Hijackthis log and I sure would appreciate help with this problem. I can't even type this message without beging interupted by opening IE windows. Mark,
Please do the following: Download & immediately run - L2MFix.exe Click "Install" to extract the contents to a newly created folder. Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.
On the reboot notepad will open with a log. Copy/paste the contents of that log back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log. IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so! If after the reboot the log does not open double click on it in the l2mfix folder to locate log.txt. If you receive an error - \system32\Autoexec.nt is not suitable for running MS-Dos applications, you will need to visit this website to download additional files.

I followed your intstructions and then rebooted. I had to go out for a while and when I returned so far no unwanted IE windows. Here are the post LM2fix logs you requested. Let me know if I should do anything else or if you see anything else I am not aware of.

L2MFix Log (second run) as requested
As requested... By the way is it normal after rebooting from this fix for Services.exe to take 99% CPU usage for about 15 minutes and then Tmas.exe to do the same right after for about 5 minutes? Or do I have another potential problem?

Mark,
It's good to note that the major source of the pop ups are gone. We now need to check if IT has left any of it's cohorts behind. Please read this post completely before begining the fix. If there's anything that you do not understand, kindly ask your questions before proceeding. Please ensure that there aren't any any opened browsers when you are carrying out the procedures below. Save the following instructions in Notepad as this webpage would not be available when you're carrying out the fix. * * * * * * ADDITIONAL DOWNLOADS * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Download & install CleanUp.exe (not recommended for WinXP64) Download and install Ewido Security Suite
'UNPLUG'/DISCONNECT your computer from the Internet when you have finished downloading. Please delete these files/folders. You shouldnt have any trouble deleting them.
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MYDLL.dll C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\LOCALSERVICE\APPLICATION DATA\NetMon After that, your system is clean. Kindly follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:
Update all these programs regularly. Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released. Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically. Here are some additional utilities that will further enhance your safety.
To find out more information about how you got infected in the first place and some great guidelines to follow to prevent future infections you can read this article by Tony Klein After doing all these, your system will be optimised against future threats. It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder in a couple weeks if everything is working okay. Have a safe & happy computing day. ![]() Please respond to this thread one more time so we can mark this thread as resolved.

Thanks for all your help. I am up and running better that I can remember. I have installed most if not all of your suggested protections and look forward to not having to bother you guys again.
Thanks again! Mark |
