Mistake slowed computer, games uninstall/install doesn't work anymore.

I got back from christmas break, (hadn't used my computer for about 2 weeks) and my computer was running incredibly slowly on the internet ( i have cox high speed) and when I tried to uninstall and reinstall a few games, they wouldn't uninstall, and i couldn't use them. I think i installed a corrupted rollercoaster tycoon disc, and that messed up my computer.
I've run Norton internet security (05), ad aware, stinger, and tried my cox security, but norton keeps interfering with that. here is my log.

Welcome to TSF.

You're infected with a trojan...TWICE!.

There is a procedure for removing the duplicate infection in one go, but I can't remember. So, we are going to run the tool twice instead.

Please print these instructions out for use in Safe Mode. Or Save them to Wordpad so that you can access them in Safe Mode.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
  • This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
Go into Add/Remove and uninstall:

Viewpoint Media Player

Delete the folder:

C:\Program Files\Viewpoint

    1. Restart the computer. The computer begins processing a set of instructions known as BIOS.
    2. As soon as the BIOS has finished loading, begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard.
    3. Continue to do so until the 'Windows Advanced Options' menu appears.
    4. Using the arrow keys on the keyboard, scroll to and select the menu item - Safe Mode.
  • Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
  • You will first be presented with a warning.
    It should look like this
    Quote:
    VundoFix V2.15 by Atri
By using VundoFix you agree that you are doing so at your own risk
    Press enter to continue....
  • Press 'Enter' to continue!
  • Next you will see:
    Quote:
Please Type in the filepath as instructed by the forum staff
    and then press enter:
  • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtqr.dll
  • Press Enter to continue with the fix.
  • Next you will see:
    Quote:
Please type in the second filepath as instructed by the forum
    staff then press enter:
  • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\rqtwa.*
  • Press Enter to continue with the fix.
  • The fix will run and then HijackThis will open, if it does not open automatically please open it manually.
  • In HiJackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:
    • O2 - BHO: ATLDistrib Object - {2353FCBC-012D-487B-8BF3-865C0929FBEB} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddcyw.dll
      O2 - BHO: (no name) - {EA32FB3B-21C9-42cc-B8EF-01A9B28EDB0D} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtqr.dll
      O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe
      O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
      O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
      O20 - Winlogon Notify: awtqr - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\awtqr.dll
      O20 - Winlogon Notify: ddcyw - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddcyw.dll
  • After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis.
  • Press enter to exit the program then manually reboot your computer.
  • Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.

Reboot back into Safe Mode and run the Tool again. This time:

Quote:
Please Type in the filepath as instructed by the forum staff
and then press enter:
[*]At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
  • C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddcyw.dll

    O20 - Winlogon Notify: awtqr - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\awtqr.dll
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: ddcyw - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddcyw.dll
[*]After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis.[*]Press enter to exit the program then manually reboot your computer.[*]Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.
Then, please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

Before you begin, take a read through these instructions and download the programs that I've advised. Save the below instructions in notepad or wordpad, because you also have to work in safe mode without networking support, so this page wouldn't be available then. You should not have any browsers open during the cleaning process unless otherwise prompted.

Please allow yourself a few spare hours. Below are instructions for a virus scan(s) that can take longer then 2 hours.

It is also important you don't miss a step and perform everything in the right order!! .

********************************DOWNLOADS********************************

Please download these additional files/programs. Do not run them unless instructed to do so.
Unless otherwise stated, they should be stored in the same directory as the HiJackThis program.

Please download CleanUp! and install it. Do not run it yet!

Download Ewido Security Suite - Install & Update it's database but do not run it yet.

Unplug your computer from the Internet when you have finished downloading.

********************************PURGE/CLEANUP*********************************

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
  • Click "Options..."
  • Set the slider to "Standard CleanUp!"
  • Uncheck the following:
    • Delete Newsgroup cache
    • Delete Newsgroup Subscriptions
    • Scan local drives for temporary files
  • Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program. Reboot/logoff when prompted.

WARNING - CleanUp! will delete all files and folders contained within Temporary Directories. If you knowingly have items you would like to keep that are stored in these locations; Move Them Now!!!

********************************SAFE MODE*********************************

REBOOT TO SAFE MODE

*********************************SETTING UP********************************

Enable the viewing of Hidden files
  1. From Windows Explorer, go to Tools>Folder Options>View tab.
  2. Enable the option for `Show hidden files and folder´
  3. Disable the option for `Hide file extensions for known types´
  4. Disable the option for `Hide protected operating system files´
  5. Click Yes to confirm & then click OK

*********************************HJT FIXES**********************************

Run a scan with HiJackThis & select(tick) the following & click [Fix checked] :

O2 - BHO: ATLDistrib Object - {2353FCBC-012D-487B-8BF3-865C0929FBEB} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddcyw.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {EA32FB3B-21C9-42cc-B8EF-01A9B28EDB0D} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtqr.dll (file missing)
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
O20 - Winlogon Notify: awtqr - awtqr.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: ddcyw - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddcyw.dll (file missing)

********************************EWIDO SCAN********************************

** Please disable all other antivirus programs before proceeding.**

Run Ewido:
  • Click Scanner
  • Click Complete System Scan to begin scanning.
  • Click OK when prompted to clean files
  • With the first file it prompts to clean, select the option - "Perform action on all infections" - & choose clean and click OK
  • Once finished, click the Save report button
  • Save the report to your desktop
Close Ewido
* Ewido scan would require at least an hour. I suggest that you go grab a cup of coffee & do something else while you wait for it to complete.

********************************CHECK LIST********************************

In your next post, please include fresh logs from:
  1. HiJackThis
  2. Ewido Results
Please provide details of any problems you encountered whilst performing the above steps & update us on how the computer behaves now

alrighty. did as you said, got 2.7GB from the purge, and the ewido scan only took about 12 minutes, so i don't know if anything is wrong with that. internet still moves pretty slowly connecting to some sites(like this one- about a minute and a half load time)
I still can't install battlefield2, a blue flash appears about 1/12 into loading the installing program and it closes.

here is my ewido scan.

I'm not convinced Ewido ran correctly.

Second option:

Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with

Kaspersky WebScanner

Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Anti-Virus Web Scanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    • Standard
    • Scan Options:
    • Scan Archives
      Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:
    • Select My Computer
  • This will program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    • Now click on the Save as Text button:
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post.
Take note the names and locations of any file it detects but fails to clean.

* Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan

That's not showing anything we need to worry about.

Clear your Norton AntiSpam.

You appear to be clean, lets look deeper:

Download WinPfind.zip - Unzip to Drive C

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Locate & double-click on WinPFind.exe.
  1. Click Start Scan
  2. Once the Scan is Complete
    1. Go to the WinPFind folder & locate WinPFind.txt
    2. Post the results in your next post!
* This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works as it can take a while, upwards to 30 minutes or more.

alrighty. i got my battlefield2 to install (by deleating a few registry items)
here is my log

ARNING: not all files found by this scanner are bad. Consult with a knowledgable person before proceeding.

If you see a message in the titlebar saying "Not responding..." you can ignore it. Windows somethimes displays this message due to the high volume of disk I/O. As long as the hard disk light is flashing, the program is still working properly.

Please delete this file:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\cpl_moh.cpl

Download CCleaner - and Install it.

Run CCleaner.
  • On the left, click 'Issues'.
  • Click 'Scan For Issues'.
*Ccleaner will check for issues in the registry and list them. You can monitor it's progress by the green percentage bar.*
  • Once it has reached 100%. Click 'Fix Selected Issues...'.
*At this point Ccleaner will ask if you want to back up the registry. This is your choice. If you choose to back up, save the back up file in the folder you installed Ccleaner*
  • Ccleaner will give you a description of each 'issue' found. Click 'Fix All Selected Issues' for speed.
  • Repeat the above steps until CCleaner no longer finds 'issues'.
  • Exit CCleaner.

Report back wiht a complete description of how your computer is now.

well, the internet is still running really- moderately slowly, depending on the website. it took me 10 minutes to connect to www.mammothmountain.com
the scanner took 3 or 4 scans to get everything.
the program also has a cleaner. should i use that or post a log from that? i scanned with it, and it picked up a lot of stuff,- but since you didn't tell me to, and it didn't look like harmful stuff, i didn't initiate the cleaning process.

A slow internet could be down your computer spec.

As far as we can see, you're clean.
