100% cpu usage in 1 account
Ok heres the thing. AVG and Spybot don't find anything. Neither does afew other ones I've tried.
My machine when I load up this one account (my main one) is on 100% or near to it cpu usage by explorer.exe at almost all times. It does not do it when I load this account in safe mode. or when I load up an alternate account I created for when a flatemate wished to do some word processing. I enabled view kernal in the cpu usage option in task manager and it does seem that most of the usage is from kernal. Hoping you guys can help me. Ok log hijack this log follows. Hi and Welcome to TSF
Before attacking an adware/spyware problem with hijackthis make sure you have already run the following tools. Download and update the databases on each program before running.
Also make sure you are using the the latest version (1.99.1) of HijackThis and it's installed in it's own folder on the root drive. (C:\HJT) Please go to at least two of these sites and run an online Virus Scan. Be sure to have the AutoFix box(s) checked if the site has that option. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ http://www3.ca.com/virusinfo/virusscan.aspx http://www.pandasoftware.com/actives..._principal.htm http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/license.php http://us.mcafee.com/root/mfs/default.asp http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/d...d=ie&venid=sym Download and install CleanUp! but do not run it yet. *WARNING* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders and does not make backups. Download, install, and update Ewido Security Suite
After the updates are installed, exit Ewido Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows: *Click "Options..." *Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!" *Put a check next to the following:
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program. Reboot/logoff when prompted. Reboot into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter. Check and fix the following in HijackThis if they still exist (make sure you do not miss an entry) R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cust.../www.yahoo.com R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = O21 - SSODL: cfPAadRsQ - {9CE05DC3-364A-F769-FC0A-6FF6980631B3} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\icfv.dll (file missing) C:\WINDOWS\System32\icfv.dll <--delete that file IF found. Run Ewido:
Reboot back to normal mode.... Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan ** click on "Free use ActiveScan" located on the top right hand corner

I actually seem to have fixed the problem. I had previously run those and other scans and come up clean.
However since it seemed to be only 1 profile that was causing a problem I booted in safe mode and manually deleted all files in the temp directory of the profile. As well as all temporary internet files. Since having done this it now seems to be working ok. Thanks for taking the time to help me out :) |
