reformatted after winsock takeover, still having problems - Page 3

Open regedit and navigate to this key.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Security Center

Make sure "Security Center" is highlighted..click File>>Export and save a copy of the reg file on your desktop. Rename that file to a .TXT file and post it here. I need to have a look at everything in the registry key.

I called HP and ended up deciding to throw in the towel. The main reason they suggested this is because I had to have my hard drive replaced after only about 6 months of owning the laptop and that never once since I bought the computer have I been able to complete System Restore. It always comes back with a message that the system was unable to restore to the selected point and that I should choose another.

So whatever, I backed-up my stuff and sent it off to be completely redone with all the original ingredients and then tested and such.

Thanks for all of your help with this mess. Hopefully I won't need to bug you again with these crazy problems.

Ok Bobbie. Kinda sticks you got a shotty Hard Drive. Anyway..please visit again when you get this clean hard drive back and I'll give you a list of programs to use that will prevent this from happening again.
