I've been Hijacked - Am I Clean now?
Got spyware on my laptop, my background image was changed & I couldnt change it back, my system was also trying to send emails without my knowledge but NAV2005 stopped them plus I pulled the plug on my internet connection.
I used system restore to go back to previous day which sorted my background image problem and since then have completed the 5 steps mentioned but I don't know if I'm completly. I connect my laptop via wireless router to my desktop pc could that have been infected as well (it was on at the same time)? I haven't noticed anything strange happening on that though. TIA for your assistance Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 16:01:35, on 03/01/2006 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Sygate\SPF\smc.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SNDSrvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SPBBC\SPBBCSvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Acer\eManager\anbmServ.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\CTsvcCDA.EXE C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\IWP\NPFMntor.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\IoctlSvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPLpr.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD\PDVDServ.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe C:\acer\epm\epm-dm.exe C:\Program Files\Launch Manager\QtZgAcer.EXE C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\Program Files\Corsair\Corsair Flash Voyager Utility\PLBkMon.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\jusched.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\HotfixQ0306270.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Works Shared\WkUFind.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\hkcmd.exe C:\Program Files\Real\RealPlayer\RealPlay.exe C:\Program Files\CConnect\CConnect.exe C:\Program Files\FinePixViewer\QuickDCF.exe C:\Program Files\SpywareGuard\sgmain.exe C:\Program Files\SpywareGuard\sgbhp.exe C:\Program Files\acer\eRecovery\Monitor.exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe R0 - Hello and Welcome to TSF!!
I don't see anything too bad in here, but let's run a couple of things first: Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below. Also if you have any programs that may prevent system changes (like Spybot's TeaTimer program, Ad-aware's Ad-Watch, and others), make sure you disable them before doing any of the fixes (or accept the changes for the fix we give you when asked by the programs). Go to My Computer->Tools (or View)->Folder Options->View tab: * Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders (it's Show all files for Windows 98). * Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option. * Click Yes to confirm and then click OK. For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep). Make sure you downloaded, installed, updated and ran these programs (run in Safe Mode) already - Ad-aware, Spybot and Ewido (only if you have Windows 2000 or XP). If you didn't, do them now. For more information, go to http://www.greyknight17.com/spyware.htm Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan Click on the "Free To Use ActiveScan" located on the top right hand corner
*Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan Paste the Panda Scan report here together with a new HiJack This log.

Almost there!!
Please print out or copy this page to Notepad.
Download CleanUp! http://cleanup.stevengould.org/ (Alternate Link if main link don't work - http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/CleanUp.exe ) and install it. CleanUp! deletes EVERYTHING out of your temp/temporary folders, it does not make backups. If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, please make a backup of these before running CleanUp!. Run CleanUp! and click on the Options button. Uncheck 'Scan local drives for temporary files'. Also uncheck those two Newsgroup entries if you don't want to delete them. Click OK and then click on the CleanUp! button. Let it run. After it's done, choose Yes to logoff. Reboot into Safe Mode.(tapping F8 or F5) Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Ctrl-C: C:\WINDOWS\teller2.chk C:\WINDOWS\secure32.html Start KillBox. Go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard. *Verify that you've done this properly by clicking the dropdown-arrow next to the Full Path of File to Delete field. The filenames you pasted will be found in there. Select/tick the following: * Delete on Reboot * End Explorer Shell While Killing File * Unregister.dll Before Deleting" if it's not grayed out. Click the RED X button. Click [Yes] at the 'Delete on Reboot' prompt. Click [Yes] at the Pending Operations prompt. Reboot and run another Panda Scan. Post the log and another HijackThis log.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad.
Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Ctrl-C: C:\WINDOWS\timessquare1.dat Start KillBox. Are you experiencing any more problems?

No problems as such now, am I using the right things to keep my laptop clean from now on? I intend to use Spyware Guard, Spybot, Ad-aware & cwshredder weekly with NAV 2005 & Sygate firewall running all the time.
Thanks for all your help |
