Phoning home?
Problem surfaced on secondary machine yesterday after receiving trojan alert from AVG. Disconnected from network, ran Spybot, found and removed Booked Space, Aornum, MySearch. Ran AdAware-OK. Full AVG scan verified that trojan was in vault, and it could not be found anywhere else. Task manager reports iexplorer.exe drawing 82% of CPU while csrss draws about 4%. This is for 1 second, iexplorer.exe dissapears from task manager, and CPU useage drops to about 2%. 4 seconds later this sequence repeats. Focus is drawn from any other open applications for this 1 second period.
Hope this log sheds some light on this. Hi Kryos and thank you for your patience.
Please print out or copy this page to Notepad in order to assist you when carrying out the following instructions. Go to My Computer >Tools >Folder Options >View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System files and Folders are showing / visible. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files option. Please download Cleanup! or use this Alternate Link if the main link does not work and install it. You will use this later. Reboot your system in Safe Mode (By repeatedly tapping the F8 key until the menu appears). Go into Hijack This->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click “Kill process” for each one (If they still exist)(You must kill them one at a time). C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe Click > Start > Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs and uninstall the following programs: Viewpoint ViewMgr.exe is an advertising program by Viewpoint. This process monitors your browsing habits and distributes the data back to the author's. Open Hijack This and click on Scan. Check the following entries (make sure you do not miss any) R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://my.iwon.com/ O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe O15 - Trusted Zone: http://www.iwon.com O21 - SSODL: IEFilter - {DF6982F5-2F96-43D6-9296-D5F632C4334B} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\IEFilter.dll Please remember to close all other windows, including browsers then click Fix checked. Delete the following Files indicated in RED and Folders indicated in BLUE if they still exist. C:\Program Files\Viewpoint C:\WINDOWS\system32\IEFilter.dll *NOTE* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temporary folders and does not make backups. Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from Start > All Programs). Set the program up as follows: Click Options Move the slider button down to Custom CleanUp! Check the following:
Uncheck the following :
Reboot your system in Normal Mode. Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan Click on the "Free To Use ActiveScan" located on the top right hand corner. 1. Click Check Now and a "pop up" window will appear. *Please ensure that your pop up blocker doesn't block it * 2. Enter your e-mail address, country, and state & click Scan Now * The download of the 8 MB Panda's ActiveX control will take place * Begin the scan by selecting My Computer
*You needn't remain online while it's doing the scan but you have to re-connect after it has finished to see the report. *Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan Please post a fresh Hijack This log so that we can check if your system is clean.
