Hello BA15 and welcome to TSF,
Thank you for your patience. Please print out or copy this page to Notepad since you will not have any of browsers open while you are fixing this. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link doesn't work) and install it. Do not run it yet. Download CWShredder and run it. Click on 'I Agree' button if you agree. Click on 'Fix' (it will automatically fix anything it finds for you) and then click OK. If it asks if you want to delete a certain random file, choose No and post that filename here. Let it finish the scan and then hit Next and Exit. Download L2mfix from one of these two locations: http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread. IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so! *Note* If you receive an error while running option #1 similar to this below.. ''C:windowssystem32cmd.exe, C:windowssystem32autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications" please choose Close to terminate the application. Then run Option 5 or the web page link in the l2mfix folder to solve this error condition. DO NOT run the fix portion (Option 2 or 6) without fixing this first. --------------------------- Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab: * Under the Hidden files and folders heading: * select Show hidden files and folders. * Uncheck Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option. * Click Yes to confirm and then click OK. Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following: 1) Restart your computer 2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8. 3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear 4) Use the up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode and press Enter. --------------------------- Run a scan in HijackThis. 'Check' each of the following if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = about:blank R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [0oqw0ub0.dll] RUNDLL32.EXE 0oqw0ub0.dll,b 553801925 O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [lspins] "C:\WINDOWS\system32\igps.exe" O20 - Winlogon Notify: Group Policy - C:\WINDOWS\system32\iaclass.dll (file missing) Delete the following Files if they still exist. C:\WINDOWS\system32\ igps.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ iaclass.dll 0oqw0ub0.dll --Do a search for this file via Start>Search and delete. b 553801925 --Do a search for this file via Start>Search and delete if found. --------------------------- Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows: *Click "Options..." *Move the arrow down to "Standard CleanUp!" *Uncheck the following: -Delete Newsgroup cache -Delete Newsgroup Subscriptions -Scan local drives for temporary files Click OK Press the CleanUp! button to start the program. Reboot/logoff when prompted. Note: CleanUp! deletes EVERYTHING out of your temp/temporary folders, it does not make backups. If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, please make a backup of these before running CleanUp! Reboot into Normal Mode. Please run an online scan at http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm *Requires Internet Explorer. Make sure you click the "Free Online Virus Scan" in the upper right hand corner of the page under the Free use Activescan header. We do NOT want the default spyXposer scan.
So I'll need the following logs/reports: l2mfix log Panda ActiveScan HijackThis |

Hi,
You need to extract the files. Here are the instructions once again: Click on the l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Now you should see the l2mfix.bat. Continue with the rest of the instructions. |

Ok i tried it again i have the l2mfix folder on my desktop but no l2mfixbat inside the folder. This is what I am doing. I clicked on the link and a box pops up asking to run or save. I clicked save and saved it to the desktop. Then another popup appears asking to run or open folder. I clicked on run. Then i clikced on accept. Another box appeared asking me where i wanted to save the files and i saved it to desktop. Then i clicked instal. It then says the files are being extracted and thats when the folder pops up on my desktop. At no point is there a place for me to click l2mfix.exe. I dont know what im doing wrong. Please help.

I did everything you said but I had a problem with the panda active scan. A little less than halfway through the scan a popup appears from Microsoft Office Outlook. "No profiles have been created. To create new profile, use the mail icon in the control panel". I dont use this program so I dont know why it is creating a problem. Anyways the scan stops when this popup appears. I will post the log that it created so far.

Hi BA15,
Download KillBox http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/KillBox.exe. (it's important that you get version v2.0.0.175) Reboot into Safe Mode.(tapping F8 or F5) Start KillBox. Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Ctrl-C: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\0oqw0ub0.dll C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\tsuninst.exe C:\contextplus.exe C:\drsmartload1.exe C:\MTE3NDI6ODoxNg.exe Go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard *Click on the dropdown menu next to Full Path of File to Delete field. *Verify that the filenames you pasted are found there. Select/tick the following: * Delete on Reboot * End Explorer Shell While Killing File * Unregister.dll Before Deleting" if it's not grayed out. Click the RED X button. Click [Yes] at the 'Delete on Reboot' prompt. Click [No] at the Pending Operations prompt. --------------------------- Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist: QL --------------------------- Delete the following folders: C:\Program Files\Common Files\ kmqm C:\Program Files\ QL Reboot into Normal Mode. Let's try a different online scanner. Perform an online scan using Internet Explorer with Kaspersky WebScanner You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes. *The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files: *Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT *Now click on Scan Settings *In the scan settings make that the following are selected: *Scan using the following Anti-Virus database: *Standard *Scan Options: *Scan Archives *Scan Mail Bases *Click OK *Now under select a target to scan: *Select My Computer *This will program will start and scan your system. *The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run. *Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected. *Now click on the Save as Text button: *Save the file to your desktop. *Copy and paste that information in your next post along with another HijackThis log. |

Hi,
This should wrap things up for you. Reboot into Safe Mode. Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) Viewpoint --------------------------- Run a scan with HijackThis and 'check' the following entry: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe Click 'Fix Checked' and close HijackThis. --------------------------- Delete the following Files and Folders: C:\Program Files\ Viewpoint C:\ inrh9400.exe C:\ inst_0004.exe Reboot into Normal Mode. Run another scan with Kaspersky, it should come up clean with the exception of items in the System Restore. If there are others, post that log here again. If it is 'clean', please continue with these important final instructions: Reset hidden/system files and folders Windows XP =============== Click Start. * Open My Computer. * Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options. * Select the View tab. * Deselect the Show hidden files and folders option. * Select the Hide file extensions for known types option. * Select the Hide protected operating system files option. Click Yes to confirm. Click OK. Enable Windows Auto Update *Go to Start>Run - type wuaucpl.cpl *Tick on the checkbox - "Keep my computer up to date" *Under Settings, choose "Automatically download the updates, and install them on the schedule that I specify". Click on "OK". Create a new System Restore point Click Start >> Run - type SYSDM.CPL & press Enter * Select the System Restore Tab * Tick on the checkbox - "Turn off System Restore on all drives" Click Apply * Then untick the same checkbox & click OK This will prevent any reinfection from any previous restore points. In light of your recent issue, I'm sure you'll like to avoid any future infections. Please take a look at these well written articles: HOW DID I GET INFECTED IN THE FIRST PLACE? by Tony Klein THE ANTI-SPYWARE TUTORIAL MAKING INTERNET EXPLORER SAFER Be very wary with any security software that is advertised in popups or in other ways. They are not only usually of no use, but often have malware in them. Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperative that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out. Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is susceptible to being hacked and taken over. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly. For a tutorial on Firewalls and a listing of some available ones see the link below: Understanding and Using Firewalls More information and downloads are available at the following links: Spyware Blaster to help prevent spyware from installing in the first place. Spyware Guard to catch and block spyware before it can execute. IESpy-Ad to block access to malicious websites so you cannot be redirected to them from an infected site or email. Update all these programs regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released. Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically. |
