Hijackthis log please help I can't use the CD drives

I am Running XP SP2. in D drive the light flashes a few times and then it stops, when I go to my computer and click on the drive I get D:\ is not accessible. Incorrect function. I have tried it with every logon and I get the same thing. I have checked Microsoft knowledge base and found something to try, but the setting were all okay. On the 2nd drive I can click on it and it comes up with a blank screen even though it has something on the CD. Sometimes as I am checking the properties on one of the the 2nd drive will start spinning and then I can see files on it. It's almost like I created an interrupt and it starting working. I can look at the properties on both and they look fine. I have checked the device manager they both say they are working. I have tried to update the drivers on both and they say the most current one is installed. I tried booting in Safe Mode and then the 1st drive D: will work and the 2nd drive E: gives the E:\ is not accessible. Incorrect function. I have scanned with ad aware and got rid of everything. I have scanned with Spybot and got rid of everything that it showed. I have Spyware blaster installed and running. I booted in Safe Mode and ran an online virus scan and found BKDR Agent.BG and BK.DR BDI.A and I deleted both. I tried loading a program that needed a quick time file and it said I didn't have it, so I downloaded quicktime again to make sure, but that didn't help and now when I click on ITunes the screen flashed where you click on accept, but it will not stay open long enough to click on it. I have tried to repair ITunes and I get the same thing. I have run an Active Scan from Panda and deleted virus'. I have run Ewido scan and deleted files, I have run Cleanup and cleaned up the files. I have used Killbox and killed ykqwco.exe and Mgystz.exe, but I still have the same problem. I ran HIJack this and here it is. I would really appreciate any HELP. Thanks

Hi and Welcome to TSF

Before attacking an adware/spyware problem with hijackthis make sure you have already run the following tools. Download and update the databases on each program before running.
Also make sure you are using the the latest version (1.99.1) of HijackThis and it's installed in it's own folder on the root drive. (C:\HJT)

Please go to at least two of these sites and run an online Virus Scan.
Be sure to have the AutoFix box(s) checked if the site has that option.

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
http://www3.ca.com/virusinfo/virusscan.aspx
http://www.pandasoftware.com/actives..._principal.htm
http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/license.php

http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/d...d=ie&venid=sym
http://www3.ca.com/virusinfo/virusscan.aspx

Download and install CleanUp! but do not run it yet.

*WARNING* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders and does not make backups.

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible.
Please make sure system restore is enabled by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn OFF System Restore and make sure it’s NOT checked. We want system restore ON and monitoring your current hard drive. Once your clean we will turn this off and then back on to remove the infection from the restore folder and create a clean restore point.

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows:
*Click "Options..."
*Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
*Put a check next to the following:
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Cookies
  • Delete Prefetch files
[X]Scan local drives for temporary files (Please uncheck this option)
  • Cleanup! All Users
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program. Reboot/logoff when prompted.

Reboot into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter.

Open add/remove programs and remove WildTangent and WeatherBug IF listed.

Check and fix the following in HijackThis if they still exist (make sure you do not miss an entry)

C:\Program Files\WildTangent<--delete that folder

C:\WINNT\system32\ykqwco.exe <--delete that file

C:\Program Files\AWS<--delete that folder

Run Ewido:
  • Click [Scanner]
  • Click [Complete System Scan] to begin scanning.
  • Click [OK] when prompted to clean files
  • With the first file it prompts to clean, select the option - "Perform action on all infections" - & choose clean and click [OK].
  • Once finished, click the [Save report] button
  • Save the report to your desktop
Close Ewido

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows:
*Click "Options..."
*Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
*Put a check next to the following:
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Cookies
  • Delete Prefetch files
[X]Scan local drives for temporary files (Please uncheck this option)
  • Cleanup! All Users
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program. Reboot/logoff when prompted.

Once back to normal windows.....

Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan
** click on "Free use ActiveScan" located on the top right hand corner
  1. Click Scan your PC & a 'pop up' window shall appear. *ensure that your pop up blocker doesn't block it
  2. Click Scan Now
  3. Enter your e-mail address & click Scan Now ...begins downloading 8 MB Panda's ActiveX controls
Begin the scan by selecting My Computer
  • If it finds any malware, it will offer you a report.
  • Click on see report. Then click Save report

Please post that log in your next reply along with the Ewido log and the logs from the tools below.

Download WinPFInd http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/file...r/WinPFind.zip and extract it to your C:\ folder. This will create a folder called WinPFind in the C:\ folder.

Download Track qoo http://www.geekstogo.com/downloads/Trackqoo.zip
Save it somewhere you will remember like the Desktop. Unzip the Track qoo.vbs inside to your desktop. DO NOT run it yet!

Reboot into Safe Mode
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.!

Inside C:\WinPFind is a file called WinPFind.exe. Double-click on this file to launch the program. Once it is launched, click on the Start Scan button and wait for it to finish. This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works as it can take a while, upwards to 30 minutes or more.! Once the Scan is Complete it will make a txt file (log) of what was found.

1. Go to the WinPFind folder
2. Locate WinPFind.txt
3. Please post those results in your next post!

REBOOT to normal mode.

Double Click on "Track qoo.vbs"

Note - If you Antivirus has Script Blocking, you will get a Pop Up Windows asking you what to do. Allow this Entire Script to Run, its harmless!

Wait a few seconds and a notepad page will pop up, Copy & Paste those results and place them in the next post along with the results of WinPFind!

So I need the following tool logs..

WinPFind.txt log
Track qoo.vbs log
Ewido log
Panda log

*Note*

C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\avldr.dll <--please check that files properties and make sure it's related to Panda Antivirus

WARNING: not all files found by this scanner are bad. Consult with a knowledgable person before proceeding.

If you see a message in the titlebar saying "Not responding..." you can ignore it. Windows somethimes displays this message due to the high volume of disk I/O. As long as the hard disk light is flashing, the program is still working properly.

Downlaod the file I've attached to this post - regdel.zip (do NOT run it yet)

Download & launch KillBox v2.0.0.175.exe (it's important that you get version v2.0.0.175)

Select the following option - delete on Reboot
Use your mouse to select all the filenames listed below & then right-click & select Copy
  • C:\WINNT\agkhot.dll
    C:\WINNT\system32\glqfw.dll
    C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\7r9e5u66.ini
    C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\fiz4
    C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\fiz6
    C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\Mgystzk1.xml
    C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\NewMgystzu1.xml
    C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\p9fg22ff.ini
    C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\_003827_.tmp.dll
    C:\WINNT\system32\ykqwco.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\piwx.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Courtney\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\piwx.exe
* Go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard
* Click the RED X button.
* Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt.
* Click Yes at the 'Pending Operations prompt'.

Quote:
If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * **

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:

1. Restart your computer
2. After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3. Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4. Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Uninstall the following programs, if present, using Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs:
  • AdDestroyer
    WildArcade
    Winad Client
    midaddle
Please note any other programs that you dont recognize in that list in your next response

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Form within regdel.zip, doubleclick on regdel.reg & allow it to merge into the registry.

Locate and delete the following files/folders, if present:

    C:\PROGRAM FILES\WildArcade
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\Winad Client
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\midaddle

3. Uncheck the following:
  • Delete Newsgroup cache
  • Delete Newsgroup Subscriptions
  • Scan local drives for temporary files

REBOOT TO NORMAL MODE

Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Kaspersky WebScanner

Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Anti-Virus Web Scanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
    • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
      • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
        • Standard
      • Scan Options:
        • Scan Archives
        • Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:Select My Computer
  • This will program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    • Now click on the Save as Text button:
  • Save the file to your desktop.
Copy and paste that information in your next post.

* Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Download Trend Micro™ Anti-Spyware (by clicking the "Scan and Clean your PC" button).
  • Double-click the tmas-web-scan.exe icon
  • It will say "Loading TrendMicro definitions".
  • Click "Start Scan"
After it's done scanning, click "Scan Results"
  • Make sure all items found have a check next to them, then click "Clean Threats Now".
  • Click Exit.
Reboot your computer. I then need you to repeat the same procedure above again... using the TrendMicro tool. I need the log from the second scan/clean...NOT the first...as this will contain what’s left in the system.

It would produce a log called "Antispyware.log", please double-click that log and copy the entire contents and paste them here.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

In your next post, please include fresh logs from:
  • HiJackThis log
  • Online Scans
Please provide details of any problems you encountered whilst performing the above steps & update us on how the computer behaves now

Fix these with HijackThis:

O16 - DPF: {0F04992B-E661-4DB9-B223-903AB628225D} (DoMoreRunExe.DoMoreRun) - file://C:\Program Files\Gateway\Do More\DoMoreRunExe.CAB

Then reboot into Safe Mode to search/delete these:
  • ICQLite.exe
  • sysfts.exe

Whilst in Safe Mode, please do a HIjackthis scan & save the resultant log.

In your next reply, I would require you to tell post 2 HJT logs. One from Safe Mode & the other from Normal Mode.

Let's see what we can dig up about th emysterious behaviour of your cdroms.

Please go to Start > Run - type in eventvwr & click Ok
In the ensuing Window, you would see a left & right pane.
You will see Application, Security & System listed in the left pane.

In the left pane click on Application.

Click the gray title “Type” at the top of the source name column in the right pane to sort by type name, look for "Error". Double-click on the most recent 3, and evaluate the event description for any indication of the cause of the problem. Make note of the Description, EventID and Source of these Event Properties.Click on the button below the two arrows in the upper right corner. This will copy the event information to the clipboard. Paste the information for each event here

Repeat the above step for System

Also look for any events that may pertain to cdroms.

Well, I ran PC Doctor and it read the drive during the test and it tested okay. I clicked on the drive and it gave me the error message. I was looking at the properties on the D drive and I didn't see anything so I closed it out and clicked on the drive and I could see the files and no error message, so I thought this was just a fluke so I rebooted and clicked on it and I could see the files, so I put a different cd in it and boom
D:\is not accessible. Invalid function.

To be honest, I have no idea what's going on with your drives.

We got rid of some nasty malware but they aren't known to intefere with hardware devices. May I suggest that you start a thread at either the Hardware/XP forums. Those guys would be better suited to help you with this issue. Tell them that the HJT forum has disinfected your machine & that you still have some outstanding issues with your peripherals.

Before you go, I like to point out that you have a bad uninstall with the Panda security program. It has left these entries on your log:

O20 - Winlogon Notify: avldr - C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\avldr.dll
O23 - Service: PavPrSrv - Unknown owner - (no file)

It would be wise to remove them. You should be able to do so by having HijackThis fix them.
