unwanted pop-ups
My problem is the following:
I have done all kinds of scans for add-ware, viruses and so on but the pop-ups saying that I have problem with my register or have add-ware and I should go to sites like winfix.com, cleanthispc.com etc won't stop. Another thing is that after some time when I am on the interner my CPU usage goes to 100% and when I disable my connection everything goes back to normal. I hope that you can help me fix this so I am posting the result.txt from the Hijackthis Analyser. ==================================================================== Log was analyzed using KRC HijackThis Analyzer - Updated on 9/28/05 Get updates at http://www.greyknight17.com/download.htm#programs ***Security Programs Detected*** C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\DefWatch.exe C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\Rtvscan.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\PROGRA~1\SYMANT~1\VPTray.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ccApp] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [vptray] C:\PROGRA~1\SYMANT~1\VPTray.exe O23 - Service: Symantec Event Manager (ccEvtMgr) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe O23 - Service: Symantec Password Validation (ccPwdSvc) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccPwdSvc.exe O23 - Service: Symantec Settings Manager (ccSetMgr) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exe O23 - Service: Symantec AntiVirus Definition Watcher (DefWatch) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\DefWatch.exe O23 - Service: SAVRoam (SavRoam) - symantec - C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\SavRoam.exe O23 - Service: Symantec Network Drivers Service (SNDSrvc) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SNDSrvc.exe O23 - Service: Symantec AntiVirus - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\Rtvscan.exe ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 4:55:36 PM, on 11/14/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP1 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106) Running processes: D:\Program Files\Sygate\SPF\smc.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_01\bin\jusched.exe C:\WINDOWS\Datecs\Flex2K.exe D:\Vili\hijackthis\HijackThis 1.99.1.exe O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A5366673-E8CA-11D3-9CD9-0090271D075B} - (no file) O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SmcService] D:\PROGRA~2\Sygate\SPF\smc.exe -startgui O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_01\bin\jusched.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DAEMON Tools-1033] "C:\Program Files\D-Tools\daemon.exe" -lang 1033 -lock O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [googletalk] "C:\Program Files\Google\Google Talk\googletalk.exe" /autostart O4 - Startup: Adobe Gamma.lnk = C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Calibration\Adobe Gamma Loader.exe O4 - Global Startup: FlexType 2K.lnk = ? Download these files/programs & save to Desktop :
Right click on this & choose "Save As..." DelO15Domains.inf - DelO15Domains.inf Right click on DelO15Domains.inf and choose Install. It will run immediately (you won't be able to see anything happen). You may delete the file afterwards. Host.zip Extract the file & overwrite the existing copy located at C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\host SpywareBlaster 3.4 Install & update SpywareBlaster with the latest definitions. After you have updated, click the button - enable protection for all unprotected items IE-SpyAD - Extract the contents to a new folder From within the folder, double-click install.bat Select Option #2 - Install the new IE-SPYAD list. Then return to the main menu. Select option #4 - Add the old porn sites domain ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Please delete these files: E:\Install\Masoko.Net\miranda\Copy of Miranda\Plugins\gmailm.dll E:\Install\Masoko.Net\miranda\Copy of Miranda\Plugins\gmailmntf.zip E:\Install\Programs\RadLight3.03\RadLight3\RPKi\RPK.exe Question 1. Did you run AproposFix from Safe Mode? 2. Are you still getting pop ups? Please post a new HJT log in your next reply

I ran AproposFix form Safe Mode.
For about 4 hours will I am on the net I haven't had a pop up but I think I should leave my PC connected on the net all night to see if everything will be ok and I'll let you know of course. I did the above things you said and have installed SpywareBluster but after updating the option "enable protection for all unprotected items" was inactive. By the way I am using different browser from IExplorer and sometimes the Mozilla but very very rarely so are you sure I really need this proglram? here is the new Hijackthis.log : Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 9:32:06 PM, on 11/15/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP1 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE D:\Program Files\Sygate\SPF\smc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\DefWatch.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7Debug\mdm.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\Rtvscan.exe C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel\atiptaxx.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\PROGRA~1\SYMANT~1\VPTray.exe C:\WINDOWS\SOUNDMAN.EXE C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_01\bin\jusched.exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe C:\WINDOWS\Datecs\Flex2K.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\wuauclt.exe C:\Program Files\Crazy Browser\Crazy Browser.exe D:\Vili\hijackthis\HijackThis 1.99.1.exe R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ATIPTA] C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel\atiptaxx.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NeroCheck] C:\WINDOWS\system32\NeroCheck.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ccApp] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [vptray] C:\PROGRA~1\SYMANT~1\VPTray.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SoundMan] SOUNDMAN.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SmcService] D:\PROGRA~2\Sygate\SPF\smc.exe -startgui O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_01\bin\jusched.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ICQ Lite] C:\Program Files\ICQLite\ICQLite.exe -minimize O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DAEMON Tools-1033] "C:\Program Files\D-Tools\daemon.exe" -lang 1033 -lock O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [googletalk] "C:\Program Files\Google\Google Talk\googletalk.exe" /autostart O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MsnMsgr] "C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\MsnMsgr.Exe" /background O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background O4 - Startup: Adobe Gamma.lnk = C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Calibration\Adobe Gamma Loader.exe O4 - Global Startup: FlexType 2K.lnk = ? You will still require IE for Windows Update & the some sites which requires ActiveX controls. Dont worry about SpywareBlaster. It doesn't use any resources.
Please come back tomorrow to let me know if you have anymore pop ups. Your system is clean. Kindly follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:
Update all these programs regularly. Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released. Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically. Here are some additional utilities that will further enhance your safety.
To find out more information about how you got infected in the first place and some great guidelines to follow to prevent future infections you can read this article by Tony Klein After doing all these, your system will be optimised against future threats. It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder in a couple weeks if everything is working okay. Have a safe & happy computing day. ![]() Please respond to this thread one more time so we can mark this thread as resolved.
