was recommended to post log after v odd error

Was recommended to post log here, as had a very odd error where couldn't type the letters f, e, r, d, or m. Every time I tried to type one of them, either the 'run' box opened, or the screen minimised, or the 'search' box opened, etc etc. Of course now the keys aren't doing the same thing! Only difference is that I've installed ZoneAlarm after removing another firewall programme. Have noticed one or two lines remain in the log from the other programme; apart from that am really puzzled about what happened, and hoping it doesn't happen again.

Please run an online scan at http://www.pandasoftware.com/actives..._principal.htm
Once it has finished save the activescan log. Then post that log in your next post

Try this alternative - Kaspersky WebScanner

Click on Launch Kaspersky Anti-Virus Web Scanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
    • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
      • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
        • Standard
      • Scan Options:
        • Scan Archives
        • Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:Select My Computer
  • This will program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    • Now click on the Save as Text button:
  • Save the file to your desktop.
Copy and paste that information in your next post.

Kaspersky on-line scan

Hi, it all came up clean.

Scan Settings:
Scan using the following antivirus database: standard
Scan Archives: true
Scan Mail Bases: true
Scan Target - My Computer:
a:\
c:\
d:\
Scan Statistics:
Total number of scanned objects: 101295
Number of viruses found: 0
Number of infected objects: 0
Number of suspicious objects: 0
Duration of the scan process: 16323 sec
No malware has been detected. The sections that have been scanned are CLEAN.
Scan process completed.

The only other thing I can think is that the couple of game demos I'd downloaded prior to the weird stuff happening (and that I erased as soon as problems started) must have contained a virus which was sorted out by deleting the program(s)? Glad to have gone back to ZoneAlarm, as had been trying out Sygate over the time the errors were happening! Regards, Cat

Hello,

Is everything working fine now and we can mark this as resolved?

Well since the issue dissapeared after you uninstalled that other firewall..I would say it was the problem. It could also be the keyboard shortcuts got all messed up...since you were launching windows with only a single key.

As the scans are coming out clean..I don't think it's related to any malware on the system.

The errors didn't start as soon as the firewall was installed. Uninstalled it (Sygate) because it let in whatever caused the problem, and I never had such weird errors happening when using ZoneAlarm. Maybe it could have been that I caught a key, or the downloaded game demos that coincided with the errors happening. Erased them very quickly, incase they were the cause, and before posting logs ... am relieved that if it was these that caused the problems, erasing them must have solved it! Thanks for confirmation that logs show system is clear.
