Hello...
NAV has identified the virus Trojan.Vundo - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ssqrr.dll When I run the NAV scan it shows two Trojan.Vundo: C:\WINDOWS\system32\ssqrr.dll C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtutt.dll They both are identified as 517KB Created on 10/6/2005 I tried to delete them in Safe/Normal, but they say they are Application Extensions and wouldn't let me delete them. I ran the Symantec removal tool Vundo.exe in both Modes Normal/Safe; however, it said there were no viruses? Your help/assistance would truly be appreciated!!! While TeaTimer is an excellent tool for the prevention of spyware, it can sometimes prevent HijackThis from fixing certain things.
Please disable TeaTimer for now until you are clean. TeaTimer can be re-activated once your HijackThis log is clean.
We may need several passes before we can get Vundo out of the system Please print these instructions out for use in Safe Mode. Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop. Double-click on it to extract the files to a new folder on your desktop. Reboot your computer into Safe Mode. Restart your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter. Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat At the introductory screen, press <Enter> to proceed. When asked to type in a filepath, please key this in:
Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Next you will be asked to type in a second filepath. At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * The fix will run then HijackThis will open. In HiJackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:
Pressing any key will cause a "Blue Screen of Death" this is normal, do not worry! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Once your machine reboots please post a new HJT log. I need to ascertain whether you need another pass before we can proceed with the rest of the fix.

I attempted to do what you instructed in Safe Mode and after typing the 2dn file name ... a Malicious script warning came up from NAV .. I just closed it out (X) and then the system said FATAL ERROR and crashed ... I went back to Safe Mode and tried it again and this time on the 2nd file ...it said "doesn't exit" close the program and ensure you typed the right file name...I went back to normal operation and ran the Hijack This since I was unable to check the files you listed in Safe Mode..never did get HijackThis to run in Safe Mode... here is a copy of the HijackThis log: Please help .. I do everything as you stated and closed out the Teatimer as instructed... You still have to run VundoFix one more time.
1st filepath - C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnno.dll 2nd filepath - C:\WINDOWS\system32\onnmp.* Hijackthis fix this entries: O2 - BHO: (no name) - {00DBDAC8-4691-4797-8E6A-7C6AB89BC441} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnno.dll O20 - Winlogon Notify: pmnno - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\pmnno.dll * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below. Download and install CleanUp! Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows: Click "Options..." Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!" Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program. It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Then, perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan
Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

sUBS,
I ran the VundoFix and everything worked ok, except it said missing VundoFix file after it ran, and then did a Fatal Crash. I ran the HijackFix and deleted the files you stated. Below is the results of the HijackThis in Safe Mode, ran the CleanUp as directed and then ran the Panda ActveScan which said it detected 5 Spyware ... below are the files you requested. I cant thank you enough for helping resolve this Vundo virus. Awaiting further instructions after you anaylyze the data. Delete this file & you're clean again.
Start HiJackThis & go to Config>Misc.Tools> Delete a file on reboot...
Now that your system is clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:
Update all these programs regularly. Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released. Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically. Here are some additional utilities that will further enhance your safety.
To find out more information about how you got infected in the first place and some great guidelines to follow to prevent future infections you can read this article by Tony Klein After doing all these, your system will be optimised against future threats. It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder in a couple weeks if everything is working okay. Have a safe & happy computing day. ![]() Please respond to this thread one more time so we can mark this thread as resolved.
