Please tell me why you say Apropos. I do not see Apropos in your log.
Please print these instructions out for use in Safe Mode. Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop. Double-click on it to extract the files to a new folder on your desktop. Reboot your computer into Safe Mode. Restart your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter. Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat At the introductory screen, press <Enter> to proceed. When asked to type in a filepath, please key this in:
Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Next you will be asked to type in a second filepath. At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * The fix will run then HijackThis will open. In HiJackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:
Pressing any key will cause a "Blue Screen of Death" this is normal, do not worry! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below. Download and install CleanUp! Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows: Click "Options..." Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!" Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program. Post a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

System screwed !!! Explorer not running
sUBs .... SAfe mode screwed up .... Explorer itself doesn't run.... I tried opening Task Manager and manually running new task as explorer. It runs for a while and the closes again ..... wat cud be done ....
And Apropos I mentioned beacuse Microsoft Antispyware detects it.... tries deleting it but next time again detects it. |

Skip the part about Safe Mode & try running VundoFix in Normal Mode.
Before doing so, use Task Manager to close all unnecessary applications. We'll deal with Arpropos in a lil while

Please download - FindAP.zip
**IMPORTANT - extract/unzip the contents to a folder of it's own ** From within that folder, double-click on FindAP.bat It will produce a log for you to post back to me. Next, download RootKitRevealer.zip Unzip it to the desktop, run it, and click Scan. This will generate a log file. Please post the entire contents of the log file in your next reply. If the file is too big, place it as an attachment instead.

Problem running the file .... 16 Bit MS-Dos Subsystem
When I run the file.. it seems its incompatible with Windows ...
Message C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe C:\windows\system32\\autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for runnig MS-DSO and Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate application and hence the log comes as below Running from directory: C:\Documents and Settings\RAJ\Desktop\FindAP ~~~~~~ Registry entries found: ~~~~~~ |

A bit confused ..... I unzipped the file ... when I run it ...it asks me if I want to create a new bad.txt file ..Saying yes, it creates an empty bad.txt file.
Once i close it it gets deleted, as mentioned in the Batch file.... Which log r u referring here to be posted |

Forget about FReg.bat. The rootkit is doing a great job hiding the key.
Have you had the chance to look at the RootkitRevealer log yet? There are some important data missing from the end.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\ir4d2x40.exe 11/18/2005 10:05 PM 424.00 KB Hidden from Windows API. well, one day I by mistake changed my date to 11/18/2005 and downloaded some files..... just thought of telling u this so that this may not distract us. |

Please download the file I have attached to this post. - fixARP.zip
**IMPORTANT - Extract/Unzip it to it's own folder Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following: 1. Restart your computer 2. After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8. 3. Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear 4. Select the option to run Windows in Safe Mode. From within it's folder, double click on fixARP.bat Wait for it to present you with a log. Then reboot to Normal Mode & post that log Also do a scan with MS AntiiSpyware & let me know if it still nags about Arpropos. I'm really heading off to Zzzz now
