Hello bubblesnoof and welcome to TSF,

They got you good. You have quite a few nasty infections going on here. Let's see how much we can clear up with this first pass.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad since you will not have any of browsers open while you are fixing this. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. Again, you should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

Download rkfiles http://skads.org/special/rkfiles.zip and unzip the contents to a new folder on your desktop. Do not run it yet.

Download the remv3.zip at http://forums.skads.org/index.php?showtopic=80 (look for the attachment to download). Make a new folder on the root drive C:\ and unzip remv3.zip files into it. Do not run it yet.

Download LQfix users.pandora.be/bluepatchy/LQfix.zip
Save it to your desktop, please do not use it yet .

Please download Ewido Security Suite at http://www.ewido.net/en/download/.

1. Install Ewido Security Suite.
2. When installing, under 'Additional Options' uncheck:
* Install background guard
* Install scan via context menu
3. Launch Ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double click it.
4. The program will now open to the main screen.
5. When you run Ewido for the first time, you will get a warning 'Database could not be found!'. Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
6. You will need to update Ewido to the latest definition files.
* On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
* Then click on Start Update.
7. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed. The status bar at the bottom will display 'Update successful'.
8. Exit Ewido. DO NOT scan yet.

If you are having problems with the updater, you can go to http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/ to update manually.

CleanUp! deletes EVERYTHING out of your temp/temporary folders, it does not make backups. If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, please make a backup of these before running CleanUp!. Download CleanUp! http://cleanup.stevengould.org/ (Alternate Link if main link don't work - http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/CleanUp.exe ) and install it. Run CleanUp! and click on the Options button. Uncheck 'Scan local drives for temporary files'. Also uncheck those two Newsgroup entries if you don't want to delete them. Click OK and then click on the CleanUp! button. Let it run. After it's done, choose Yes to logoff.

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.

Doubleclick LQfix.bat that you saved on your desktop before.
A dos window will open and close again, that is normal.

Now open Ewido and do a scan on your system.

* Click on scanner
* Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
* NOTE: During some scans with Ewido it is finding cases of false positives.
o You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
o If Ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
o Do NOT select 'Perform action on all infections'
o If you are unsure of any entry found, select none for now as the action.
* Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
* Click Save report.
* Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.

REBOOT back into SAFE MODE. These tools MUST be run in Safe Mode!
Once in safe mode, double click rkfiles.bat file to run it. It will scan for a while, so please be patient. Wait until the DOS window closes. Open the C:\log.txt it created and rename it log1.txt.

Now open the folder where you saved remv3.zip files and double click the rem.bat file and let it run. It will delete the files and remove the infection and then make a log of the files it finds. The log file will be C:\log.txt and bad1.txt

**Note** Each tool uses log.txt as it’s output file so make sure you save the entries from one tools log before running the other as it will overwrite the file if you don’t.

Reboot back to normal mode and post the contents of both the log.txt and log1.txt in your next post along with a new HijackThis scan.

So I need the following logs:

Ewido Scan
Log.txt
Log1.txt
HijackThis log

hi thank you so much for replying. before i follow your instruction i just want to tell you that I notice another MAJOR problem right now, which is when I reboot my computer and enter Windows, everytime it will reset my windows setting (such as folder view options, background, toolbars, IE preferences, etc) . i am just wondering if this would affect your instruction. again thank you

You should be ok to follow these instructions. Just be sure when you reboot into Safe Mode to make sure the following is in effect:

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

Reset this each time if you have to until we have you cleaned up.

Alrite, I think we (99% you, 1% me) did it!!! Now the search bar is gone, and when I reboot, it no longer resets all my settings!!! but one thing is whenever I start up window, i will get an error that says "c:/windows/cfgmgr52.dll not found" or something similar to that. I just press OK to close that window but I dont know if I did something wrong. anyway here are the logs you asked for:

Nice job, we're almost there. Please stay with us here as most likely there are hidden files yet to be uncovered.

Download WinPFInd http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/oldtimer/WinPFind.zip and extract it to your C:\ folder. This will create a folder called WinPFind in the C:\ folder. Do Not run it yet.

Download Trackqoo http://www.geekstogo.com/downloads/Trackqoo.zip
Save it somewhere you will remember like the Desktop. Unzip the Track qoo.vbs inside to your desktop. DO NOT run it yet.

Reboot into Safe Mode. (tapping F8 or F5)

Go into Hijack This->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click “Kill process” for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it):(You must kill them one at a time).

C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\wintask.exe
C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate\AutoUpdate.exe

Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist:

ViewPoint
AutoUpdate
VirtualBouncer

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinTask driver] C:\WINDOWS\System32\wintask.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [VBundleOuterDL] C:\Program Files\VBouncer\BundleOuter.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [cfgmgr52] RunDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\cfgmgr52.dll,DllRun
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AutoUpdater] "C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate\AutoUpdate.exe"

Delete the following Files indicated in RED and Folders indicated in BLUE if they still exist.

C:\Program Files\Viewpoint
C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate
C:\Program Files\Vbouncer
C:\WINDOWS\System32\wintask.exe
C:\WINDOWS\cfgmgr52.dll

Reboot back into Safe Mode.

Inside C:\WinPFind is a file called WinPFind.exe. Double-click on this file to launch the program. Once it is launched, click on the Start Scan button and wait for it to finish. This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works as it can take a while, upwards to 30 minutes or more.! Once the Scan is Complete it will make a txt file (log) of what was found. Save that log and post it here.

Restart one more time back into Normal Mode, run a scan with HijackThis and save the log to post here.

Locate & double-click on TrackQoo1.vbs . Wait a few seconds and a notepad page will pop up, Copy & Paste those results in your next post
* If your Antivirus has Script Blocking, you will get a Pop Up Windows asking you what to do. Allow this Entire Script to Run, its harmless!

So I will need the following logs:

WPFind
Trackqoo
HijackThis

Thanks! I followed all your steps successfully, here are the logs

WPFind:

WARNING: not all files found by this scanner are bad. Consult with a knowledgable person before proceeding.

If you see a message in the titlebar saying "Not responding..." you can ignore it. Windows somethimes displays this message due to the high volume of disk I/O. As long as the hard disk light is flashing, the program is still working properly.

Reid did a great job cleaning you up. Not much left to do in this round.

Please download KillBox v2.0.0.175.zip & save it on your Desktop

I have attached a file to this post - regdel.txt
Download it & rename it "regdel.REG" (inclusive of the quotes)
Make sure you do not mistakenly rename it as regdel.reg.txt (double extensions)
Double-click on it & answer YES when prompted to merge into the Registry

Close all other programs & have HijackThis Fix this entry:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://empnads.com/servlet/ajrotato...L?zone=enternet

Run KillBox & paste the following locations into KillBox one at a time:
  • C:\WINDOWS\jjzvr.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ppkyg.dat
    C:\Documents and Settings\ALLEN\Application Data\Sskknwrd.dll
  1. Checkmark the following boxes :
    • Replace on Reboot
    • Use Dummy
    • End Explorer Shell While Killing File
    • Unregister DLL (If available)]
  2. Click the RED X button
  3. Answer YES when asked to confirm file deletion
  4. Answer NO when prompted to reboot now
  5. Proceed with the next file by repeating the above steps.
  6. Once you get to the last entry, click YES when prompted to reboot.

Upon reboot,
  1. Go to Start> Run - type cleanmgr (this starts Windows DiskCleanup)
  2. Select Drive C: & click the 'OK' button
  3. Select the following options:
    • Temporary Internet Files
    • Recycle Bin
    • Temporary Files
  4. Click the 'OK' button

Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Kaspersky WebScanner

Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Anti-Virus Web Scanner

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    • Standard
    • Scan Options:
    • Scan Archives
      Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:
    • Select My Computer
  • This will program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    • Now click on the Save as Text button:
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post.
Take note the names and locations of any file it detects but fails to clean.
* Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan

is using that scanner absolutely neccessary?? is it ok to skip that step, my computer seems fine and i will be even more careful from now on lol. I really appreciate you guy's help and I will make a small donation to u guys. please let me know thank u so much

It would make our work easier if you didnt do the scan.
But it may cause me to lose sleep if I were to let you go w/o making sure you're fully disinfected.

So.. humour me please... for my ease of mind, please do a scan at using a different scanner.

Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan - requires Internet Explorer
  1. Click on the Scan your PC button & a 'pop up' window shall appear. * ensure that your pop up blocker doesn't block it
  2. Click On 'Scan Now'
  3. Enter your e-mail address & click 'Scan Now' ...begins downloading Panda's ActiveX controls.- 8MB
  4. Begin the scan by selecting My Computer
    * You needn't remain online while it's doing the scan but you have to re-connect after it has finished to see the report.
  5. If it finds any malware, it will offer you a report. Click on see report
  6. Then click Save report
  7. Post the contents of the report in your next reply

The next step is the most complicated one in the fix. I need you to read through this carefully before starting the fix.
  1. Clear & reset System Restore's cache
    • click Start >> Run - type SYSDM.CPL & press Enter
    • Select the System Restore Tab
    • Tick on the checkbox - Turn off System Restore on all drives
    • Click Apply
    • Then untick the same checkbox & click OK
  2. Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:
    1. From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
    2. Click once on the Security tab
    3. Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
    4. Click once on the Custom Level button.
      1. Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
      2. Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
      3. Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
      4. Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
      5. Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
      6. Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
      7. When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
      8. If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
    5. Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.

  3. Use an AntiVirus Software - It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus software running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future.

See this link for a listing of some online & their stand-alone antivirus programs:
Virus, Spyware, and Malware Protection and Removal Resources

  4. Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperative that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.

  5. Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is succeptible to being hacked and taken over. I am very serious about this and see it happen almost every day with my clients. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.

For a tutorial on Firewalls and a listing of some available ones see the link below:
    Understanding and Using Firewalls

  6. Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.

  7. Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option. This will provide realtime spyware & hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software.

A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
Using Spybot - Search & Destroy to remove Spyware , Malware, and Hijackers

  8. Install Ad-Aware - Install and download Ad-Aware. ou should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software in conjunction with Spybot.

  9. Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.

A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:

  10. Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.
Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.

Here are some additional utilities that will further enhance your safety
  • IE/Spyad - IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.

  • MVPS Hosts file - The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer

  • Trillian or Miranda-IM - These are Malware free Instant Messenger programs which allow you to connect to multiple IM services in one program! (AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, IRC, MSN)

  • Weather Watcher - Free taskbar weather program that is free, malware free, and resource light.

  • Firefox - Use this alternate browser. Whilst Internet Explorer is not a bad browser, almost every exploit crafted is targeted to take advantage of an IE weakness.

  • Sun's Java - It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine.

  • Google Toolbar - Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.

  • CleanUP! - Cleans temporary files from IE and Windows, empties the recycle bin and more. Great tool to help speed up your computer and knock out those nasties that like to reside in the temp folders.

  • Winpatrol - Download and install the free version of Winpatrol.
A tutorial for this product is located here > Using Winpatrol to protect your computer from malicious software
To find out more information about how you got infected in the first place and some great guidelines to follow to prevent future infections you can read this article by Tony Klein

After doing all these, your system will be optimised against future threats.

By the way... Your system is clean LOL

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder in a couple weeks if everything is working okay.
Have a safe & happy computing day.
