Its almost as if the connection has been terminated, which is weird considering this is supposed to be a permanant connection. I have to reboot to be able to search the web again. Oh and sorry its taken so long, but I have been out of town with work. Also when i run AboutBuster i get the following error Runtime error 339 comctl32.oxc or one of its dependancies not correctly registered:a file is missing or invalid. |

Hi Boundos
Please save the following instructions in Notepad. I have customed my instructions on the assumption that you have Notepad 'on'. It may lead to some confusion should you choose to do otherwise. Could you tell me what alert Spysweeper Found? You seem to have posted two hijack logs by mistake. Please carry out the following instructions, disregard missingfiledetup if you have already done that step If there's anything that you don't understand, kindly ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. There should not be any opened browsers when you are carrying out the procedures below. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU DON'T MISS A STEP & PERFORM EVERYTHING IN THE RIGHT ORDER. ================================================ Please download these additional files/programs. Do not run them untill instructed to do so. Unless otherwise stated, they should be stored in same directory as the HiJackThis program Download & run missingfilesetup.exe missingfilesetup REBOOT TO SAFE MODE 1. Restart the computer. The computer begins processing a set of instructions known as BIOS. 2. As soon as the BIOS has finished loading, begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard. 3. Continue to do so until the 'Windows Advanced Options' menu appears. 4. Using the arrow keys on the keyboard, scroll to and select the menu item - Safe Mode. Run About Buster and click - Begin Removal. Locate 'Ab LogFile.txt' (... in the same folder as AboutBuster) and post it in your next reply. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = REBOOT TO NORMAL MODE Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer, Please use Panda - requires Internet Explorer 1. Click on the Scan your PC button & a 'pop up' window shall appear. * ensure that your pop up blocker doesn't block it 2. Click On 'Scan Now' 3. Enter your e-mail address & click 'Scan Now' ...begins downloading Panda's ActiveX controls.- 8MB 4. Begin the scan by selecting My Computer * You needn't remain online while it's doing the scan but you have to re-connect after it has finished to see the report. 5. If it finds any malware, it will offer you a report. Click on see report 6. Then click Save report 7. Post the contents of the report in your next reply * Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan In your next post, please include fresh logs from: 1. HiJackThis 2. About Buster 3. Panda scan Please provide details of any problems you encountered whilst performing the above steps & update us on how the computer behaves now regards alba |

I must be doing something wrong here, as even after I run the missingfilesetup.exe I still received the comctl32.oxc error and AoutBuster doesnt post a log in the folder where it is stored.
Also the Panda scan runs for about 20 minutes then just drops out and closes all IE windows. |

Hi Boundos
Your logs are clean. Any more issues? If not you should be good to go. We still have a few more items to address so please follow the instructions below. Please empty Nortons Quarantine folder. Reset hidden/system files and folders Windows XP ===============
Windows 2000 ===============
Windows ME ===============
Windows 95/98/98SE ===============
Create a new System Restore point Windows XP ===============
Windows ME ===============
Reboot the PC and repeat the above procedure again When you get to this option
For Windows ME..we MUST create a new restore point now as Windows ME will not create one automatically until the computer has been on for 10 hours or 24 hours has passed. To create a new restore point follow the procedure below.
Enable Windows Auto Update
Please visit Microsoft's Window's Update Page and install the latest service packs, patch’s and security updates for your system. Recommended Protection Programs Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programs:
If you do not have a firewall, here are 3 free ones available for personal use: In light of your recent issue, I'm sure you'll like to avoid any future infections. Please take a look at these well written articles Please stay safe out there and take the helpful advice that’s been given. The goal here is to prevent the adware/spyware/virus/worms from getting on the system in the first place. Please respond to this thread one more time so we can mark this thread as resolved.
