Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.
Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked. For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep). Next, download the following tool : http://www.simplytech.it/ETRemover/ETRemover_v130.zip and unzip it to it's own folder. WARNING!! This tool should be run from safe mode only. It will not be able to delete files in use by Windows, so running it from a regular windows session is useless. A readme is included with complete details on the tool and the malware it removes. Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Make sure to close any open browsers. Run the ETRemover. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click 'Kill process' for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check): c:\windows\system32\tnthmft.exe Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist: eBates Moe MoneyMaker (not showing in this log, let us know if it is present in that location) Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [checkrun] C:\windows\system32\eliteapc32.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [uvuegbr] c:\windows\system32\tnthmft.exe r Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist: C:\windows\system32\eliteapc32.exe c:\windows\system32\tnthmft.exe Restart and run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here. Run a scan using Panda ActiveScan http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan. Post the log from the Panda scan here.

Hi jdzworld -
I'd like a look at the panda log, unless it came back clean. One other thing....I failed to observe that you are using an outdated version of HJT. The latest version allows us to see just a couple more things. Download the newest version at http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/HijackThis.exe and run it. 1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'. 2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log. 3. Post the HijackThis log here. The log you posted looks clean, but I'd like to be certain.

Ok, System 1:
Your log is clean. Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer and uncheck the same box to enable System Restore. Make sure to get the latest updates for Windows and Internet Explorer at http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.co....aspx?ln=en-us. To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial and use the tools provided. Are there any problems now? If not, you should be set to go. System 2: Download L2MFix from one of these two locations: http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts. Then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing Enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening. After a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread. IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 or any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

OK, I had you run that scan to be certain, due to the location of a file. It didn't show me what I was looking for, which is good.
Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Make sure to close any open browsers. Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): O20 - Winlogon Notify: iexplore - AAwgB.dll (file missing) Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist: AAwgB.dll<<<search for and delete this file Restart and run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here. Run a scan using Panda ActiveScan http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan. Post the log from the Panda scan here.

OK, looks good now...

OK, let's try this.....there is some malware on your system, some of it is remnants. Sorry, but that is the last time I don't insist on seeing a log for myself which I have requested. My mistake.
Download ewido security suite from here… http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ Update it’s database from here.. http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/ Run a scan and let it clean the PC. Post the scan log from ewido, and a new hijackthis log when complete. Do this for both systems, and identify each, please.

SYSTEM 1
Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below. Empty MSAS Quarentine. I'd also recommned you not rely on MSAS at all....they have recently decided to set default scanning settings for several known Adwares to "Ignore". It is not to be trusted at all, IMO. Make sure you can view hidden files: Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Reboot into safe mode and Run the ETRemover tool. Next look into your Add/Remove Programs for any programs which don't belong, and remove them. Search for the following files and delete if found: Dyfuca<<<run a search and delete any files found C:\WINDOWS\tct101.dll Run a scan using Panda ActiveScan http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan. Be sure to choose Autoclean. Post the log from the Panda scan here. Run an online virus scan at TrendMicro http://uk.trendmicro-europe.com/ente...all_launch.php. Just follow the instructions on the site to run the online scan. If any viruses/trojans are detected, try to delete or clean them in that site. Also post a new HJT log. SYSTEM 2 Also make sure hidden files can be viewed. Reboot into safe mode and Run the ETRemover tool. Next look into your Add/Remove Programs for any programs which don't belong, and remove them. For example: SaveNow TopMoxie EliteBar PurityScan Run a scan using Panda ActiveScan http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan. Your HJT logs are both clean.....I believe the results of these Panda scans are remnants still. I'll hold off proclaiming a clean system on both til we get the latest round of scan results posted. I'd also like you to run the following scanner on both systems, to see what it will pick up. Note that the following scan may take quite a bit of time. Please empty any Quarantine folder in your antivirus program and purge all recovery items in the Spybot program (if you use it) before running this tool. Download the Mwav virus checker at http://www.mwti.net/antivirus/mwav.asp (Use Link 3) 1. Save it to a folder. 2. Reboot into Safe Mode. 3. Double click the Mwav.exe file. This is a stand alone tool and NOT just a virus checker......so it won't install anything. 4. Select all local drives, scan all files, and press SCAN. When it is completed, anything found will be displayed in the lower pane. 5. In the Virus Log Information Pane...... Left click and highlight all the information in the Lower pane --- Use &CTRL C &on your keyboard to copy everything found in the lower pane and save it to a notepad file *Note* If prompted that a virus was found and you need to purchase the product to remove the malware, just close out the prompt and let it continue scanning. We are not going to use this to remove anything...but to ID the bad files. Once you copy that to a Notepad file...highlight the text and copy it here.

ok, here is system 1 results. system 2 will be another hr or so.
lol, i dont rely on MSAS. i figured that out after the first few months. it does, however, have several nice features so i kept it. adaware has been my main prog but i will definetely keep spybot, spywareblaster, iespyad, hosts, & regseeker in addition to my current progs. i will also get xp sp2 after this is cleared. it seems to be pretty clean now! do u like sp2 because i was kinda nervous at first? im not sure if i need to install spyad 2 times because i have 2 different users accts on this cpu? (they say spyad2 has couple downsides). plus, i put that protection on each acct.(others cant view my files) system #1 which reported in panda scan Incident Status Location Adware:Adware/EliteBar No disinfected Windows Registry new HJT log ==================================================================== Log was analyzed using KRC HijackThis Analyzer - System 1
Look in your Add/Remove Programs for AltNet and Remove it if found. Also run a search of your HDD for AltNet and remove any files it comes back with. These are likely remnants of a previous removal. The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! http://cleanup.stevengould.org/ (Alternate Link if main link don't work - http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/CleanUp.exe ) and install it. Please configure CleanUp with the following settings: Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows: *Click "Options..." *Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!" *Put a check next to the following:
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program. Reboot/logoff when prompted. Other than that, this system appears clean. System 2 Delete the folder C:\WINDOWS\cache371 Also search for AltNet and Grokster in Add/Remove Programs, and on your harddisk. Remove any files found in this search. Download CWShredder at http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/CWShredder.sfx.exe and run it. Uncompress the file and run it. Click on 'I Agree' button if you agree with it. Click on 'Fix' (it will automatically fix anything it finds for you) and OK. If it asks if you want to delete a certain random file, choose No and post that filename here. Let it finish the scan and then hit Next and Exit. Update to the latest version and definitions, and then run AdawareSE, have it fix any problems it may find. Download and install Spybot S&D http://security.kolla.de/. Run Spybot and click on the 'Search for Updates' button. Install any updates that are available. Now click Mode menu and choose 'Advanced Mode'. Next click on Immunize to your left. Click the Immunize button (green cross) on top to Immunize your computer - you should do this each time there is an update. Do NOT enable Spybot's realtime protection, TeaTimer, at this time. What this will do is monitor any system/registry changes and will ask you for permission to change any of these settings. It may also prevent a successful fix. You should enable TeaTimer after your log has been declared clean. Now click on the 'Spybot-S&D' option on the top left to go back to the main screen. Next click on the 'Check for Problems' button. Let it run the scan. If it finds something, check all those in RED and hit the 'Fix Selected Problems' button. Exit Spybot. If you keep getting the DSO Exploit entries, even after you updated Windows and fixed them, then download the Spybot DSO Exploit Fix http://majorgeeks.com/download4392.html and install it over the current Spybot installation.
Finally, run mwav again, and post the results here, along with a new HJT log.
