HJT log, need help, thanks

Hey everyone
I just put a new computer together and forgot about the
painstaking labor to making it safe for internet use, my old reliable
too outdated to upgrade
I am running XP for the first time with Norton system works.
Norton is not working I think when I ran Spybot I may have deleted something important, but not sure.
I was able to removed alot of stuff but some keeps popping up.
Bookspace
Virtumundo
Downloader.Small.44.Q
Trojan Adclicker
Also I cant run norton but if I run AVG, when AVG detects something
norton also pops up saying it deleted the file, but I think AVG is detecting some quaratine file in norton and then norton pops up and makes another file
well here is my log ran it thru HJT analyzer
all help will be apreciated
thanks in advance

Please do the following:

L2mfix - Download & Save to Desktop

This is a self extracting file. By double clicking on it, it will automatically extract it's contents to a new folder on Desktop.
  1. Double click L2mfix.exe.
  2. When prompted, answer "Accept"
  3. Then click the "Install" button to extract the files to a newly created folder named - L2mfix
  4. Open the L2mfix folder & double click L2mfix.bat
  5. Select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing "1" and pressing Enter.
This will scan your computer and it may appear as if nothing is happening for a period of few minutes. When it has finished, you will be presented with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Hi and Welcome to TSF!

Please subscribe to this thread to be notified of fixes as soon as they are posted by our Team. To do this, please click the "Thread Tools" button located in the original thread line and selecting "Subscribe to this Thread".

It's better to print out the next instructions or save them in notepad, because you also have to work in safe mode without networking support, so this page wouldn't be available then.
It is also important you don't miss a step and perform everything in the right order!!.
If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are carrying out the procedures below.

Enable the viewing of Hidden files
* Open Windows Explorer
* Go to Tools > Folder Options > View tab.
* enable the option for `Show hidden files and folder´
* disable the option for `Hide file extensions for known types´
* disable the option for `Hide protected operating system files´
* click "Yes" to confirm & then click "OK"

  1. Close all open programs

From the L2mfix folder on your desktop, double click L2mfix.bat
    • Select option #2 for Run Fix by typing "2" and then press enter
    • Press any key to reboot your computer.
After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, you will be presented with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it here, along with a new HJT log.

Please Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are told to

  2. Download these additional files/programs :- (Do not run them unless instructed to do so)
Unplug your computer from the Internet when you have finished downloading

    CleanUp! - Install

KillBox v2.0.0.175 - Save to Desktop.

Ewido Security Suite - Install & Update it's database but do not run it yet.

Nailfix - Unzip to the desktop

FindIt's.zip - Unzip to a new folder on Desktop

Process Explorer - Save to Desktop

    FindQoologic - Unzip to Desktop.

  3. Uninstall the following programs, if present, using Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs :
    • Media Access
      Rich Editor
      Windows AFA Internet Enhancement

  4. Run a scan with HiJackThis & locate an O4 entry that looks similar to this...
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [hacwte] c:\windows\system32\xppmshe.exe r
The name might be different but it resides in the system32 folder & has the alphabet "r" at the end. Close HiJackThis after you have identified this file. This is the file we need to use Process Explorer with.

Run Process Explorer and find name & location of the file you've just identified in the list of Processes.
Select the process and click Process > Suspend
Leave Process Explorer running with the process suspended..

  5. Using KillBox

Copy to clipboard, all the items below by highlighting them & pressing [CTRL]+[C] on your keyboard.
    • name & location of the file you've just identified
      c:\windows\system32\xppmshe.exe
      C:\Program Files\Media Access\MediaAccK.exe
      C:\Program Files\Media Access\MediaAccess.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\PSof1.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\richup.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\cfgmgr52.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\VCMnet11.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\hhnjnk.exe reg
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\AUNPS2.DLL
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\mcwebdvd.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\dcusic.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

    Start KillBox
    1. Go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
Verify that you've done this properly by clicking the dropdown-arrow next to the [Full Path of File to Delete] field. The filenames you pasted will be found in there.
    2. Select/tick the following:
      • "Delete on Reboot"
      • "End Explorer Shell While Killing File"
      • "Unregister.dll Before Deleting" if it's not grayed out.
    3. Click the RED X button.
    4. Click [Yes] at the 'Delete on Reboot' prompt. Click [Yes] at the Pending Operations prompt.

    * If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.

  6. Reboot to SafeMode

    1. Shut Windows down, and then turn off the computer.
    2. Restart the computer. The computer begins processing a set of instructions known as the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS). What is displayed depends on the BIOS manufacturer. Some computers display a progress bar that refers to the word BIOS, while others may not display any indication that this process is happening.
    3. As soon as the BIOS has finished loading, begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard. Continue to do so until the
      Windows Advanced Options menu appears.
    4. Using the arrow keys on the keyboard, scroll to and select the Safe mode menu item, and then press Enter.

  7. Remove a malware service.

    1. Click Start > Run - type services.msc.
    2. Locate the System Startup Service (SvcProc) service and double-click on it to open the Properties dialog.
    3. Click the Stop button.
    4. In the Startup type dropdown select Disabled.
    5. Click the Apply button and then the Ok button.
    6. Close the Services window
    7. Then start HiJackThis & go to Config > Misc.Tools... > Delete an NT service...
In the popup box that appears, type in SvcProc & click the OK button.

  8. Locate and delete the following folder(s), if present:
    • C:\Program Files\Media Access\
Locate and delete the following file(s), if present:
    • INSERT TEXT HERE
Search for & delete ... using "Start>Search..." the following file(s), if present:
    • INSERT TEXT HERE

  9. Run Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

  10. Run Ewido:
    • Click Scanner
    • Click Complete System Scan to begin scanning.
    • Click OK when prompted to clean files
    • With the first file it prompts to clean, select the option - "Perform action on all infections" - & choose clean and click OK

I notice that you have two anti-virus programs on your machine. That's not a good idea!!
Alike firewalls, anti-virus programs have conflicts co-existing with each other & may produce undesirable results. Please uninstall one of them.

  1. Please download these additional files/programs :- (Do not run them unless instructed to do so)
Unplug your computer from the Internet when you have finished downloading

    1. ETRemover_v130.zip - Unzip to a new folder on Desktop.
      • From that folder, click on ETRemover_v130.exe
      • Click About >> check for updates
      • After it has updated itself, close that program.

    2. fixssk.reg - Right click on this & choose "Save As...". Save it to your Desktop & name it as "fixssk.reg"
Double click on fixssk.reg & click on Yes when asked to merge into the registry.

    3. I have attached a file - regdlara.txt - to this post. Save it to Desktop & rename it as "regdlara.reg".

  2. Using KillBox
    1. Copy to clipboard, all the items below by highlighting them & pressing [CTRL]+[C] on your keyboard.
      • C:\WINDOWS\system32\ide21201.vxd
        C:\WINDOWS\system\QBUninstaller.exe
        C:\WINDOWS\system32\bose.ico
        C:\WINDOWS\system32\kill all spywareadsfadsf123.ico
    2. Start KillBox.
      1. Go to the [File] menu, and choose [Paste from Clipboard].

  3. Reboot to SafeMode

  4. Run ETRemover_v130.exe, then click the [Kill Elite Toolbar] button and wait until it finishes its work.

    * Occasionally a DOS box may appear asking your permission to delete some files in temporary Windows directories. You must accept the deletion of these to be sure of properly removing the malware!

  5. Uninstall the following programs, if present, using Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs :
    • CxtPls
      Elite ToolBar
      180 Search Assistant

  6. Locate and delete the following folder(s), if present:
    • C:\Program Files\180searchassistant
      C:\WINDOWS\EliteToolBar
      C:\Program Files\Aprps
      C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AdDestroyer
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\nsvsvc
      C:\Program Files\Cas\Client\

  7. Run a scan with HiJackThis & select(tick) the following & click [Fix checked] :

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\hhnjnk.exe reg_run
    O16 - DPF: {4208FB4D-4E53-4F5A-BF7A-3E047DDB5281} -
    O16 - DPF: {972BB342-14A7-4660-83C1-51DDBEE171DB} -

  8. Run KillBox
    1. Click [Replace on Reboot] and check the [Use Dummy] box.
    2. Paste the following into the top [Full Path of File to Delete] box.
      • C:\WINDOWS\system32\hhnjnk.exe
    3. Click the red-and-white [Delete File].
    4. Click Yes at the Replace on Reboot prompt.
    5. Click No at the Pending Operations prompt.
    6. Repeat steps 2-5 above for these files:
      • C:\WINDOWS\system32\__delete_on_reboot__nnopoek.dll
        C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddrnrca.exe
        C:\WINDOWS\system32\iiqwq.dll
        C:\WINDOWS\system32\wwbab.dat
    7. Click [Replace on Reboot] and check the [Use Dummy] box.
    8. Paste the following file into the top [Full Path of File to Delete] box.
      • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\rrpk.exe
    9. Click the red-and-white [Delete File] button.
    10. Click "Yes" at the Replace on Reboot prompt.
    11. Click "Yes" at the Pending Operations prompt to restart your computer. You do not need to reboot into Safe Mode this time.

  9. When your computer reboots, Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows:
    1. Click [Options...]
    2. Move the arrow down to [Custom CleanUp!]
    3. Put a check next to the following:
      • Empty Recycle Bins
      • Delete Cookies
      • Delete Prefetch files
      • [X]Scan local drives for temporary files (Please uncheck this option)
      • Cleanup! All Users
    4. Click [OK]
    5. Press the [CleanUp!] button to start the program. Reboot/logoff when prompted.
    * CleanUp! will delete all the files in your temp folders

  10. Run another Panda scan and post the new log here.

In your next post, please include fresh copies of:
    1. HiJackThis log
    2. Panda's log

Spybot's TeaTimer is an excellent tool for the prevention of spyware but it can sometimes prevent HijackThis from fixing certain things.
Please disable TeaTimer for now until you are clean. TeaTimer can be re-activated once your HijackThis log is clean.
  • Open Spybot Search & Destroy.
  • In the Mode menu click "Advanced mode" if not already selected.
  • Choose "Yes" at the Warning prompt.
  • Expand the "Tools" menu.
  • Click "Resident".
  • Uncheck the "Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of overall system settings) active." box.
  • In the File menu click "Exit" to exit Spybot Search & Destroy.

  1. Reboot into SafeMode

  2. Locate and delete the following folder(s), if present:
    • C:\Program Files\Aprps
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\nsvsvc
      C:\Program Files\Media Access

  3. Run a scan with HiJackThis & select(tick) the following & click [Fix checked] :

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\hhnjnk.exe reg_run
    O4 - Global Startup: rrpk.exe

  4. Run KillBox
    * do not be alarmed if several files aren't found
      • C:\WINDOWS\system32\nnopoek.dll
        C:\WINDOWS\system32\__delete_on_reboot__nnopoek.dll
        C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddrnrca.exe
        C:\WINDOWS\system32\iiqwq.dll
        C:\WINDOWS\system32\wwbab.dat
    7. Click [Replace on Reboot] and check the [Use Dummy] box.
    8. Paste the following file into the top [Full Path of File to Delete] box.
      • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\rrpk.exe
    9. Click the red-and-white [Delete File] button.
    10. Click "Yes" at the Replace on Reboot prompt.
    11. Click "Yes" at the Pending Operations prompt to restart your computer. You do not need to reboot into Safe Mode this time.

  5. When your computer reboots, post a fresh HJT log

Norton's a good program but it isn't freeware. I've provided some links at the bottom of the page if you should be looking for an antivirus that's freeware.

Your log is clean. Well done
Do you have any more problems with your computer? If not, you should be set to go.

However, there still remains a few bits of housekeeping ...

Reset hidden/system files and folders
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Deselect the Show hidden files and folders option.
  • Select the Hide file extensions for known types option.
  • Select the Hide protected operating system files option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.

Create a new System Restore point
  • click Start >> Run - type SYSDM.CPL & press Enter
  • select the System Restore Tab
  • tick on the checkbox - "Turn off System Restore on all drives"
  • click Apply
  • then untick the same checkbox & click OK

Enable Windows Auto Update
  • Go to Start>Run - type wuaucpl.cpl
  • tick on the checkbox - "Keep my computer up to date"
  • Under settings, choose "Automatically download the updates, and install them on the schedule that I specify".
  • Click on "OK".

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programs:
  • SpywareBlaster to help prevent spyware from installing in the first place.
  • SpywareGuard to catch and block spyware before it can execute.
  • IESpy-Ad to block access to malicious websites so you cannot be redirected to them from an infected site or email.

If you do not have a firewall, here are 3 free ones available for personal use:
Here are 3 free anti-virus programs that are available for home use:
In light of your recent hiccup, I'm sure you'll like to avoid any future infections. Please take a look at these well written articles
Have a safe & happy computing day.

Please respond to this thread one more time so we can mark this thread as resolved.

Thank you

Thanks for helping me out with my hiccup. I would have never been able to do all that by myself, I was probably just going to reformat the HD, but you get a great feeling when you solve somethign without taking the easy route.
One last question with all the programs that I downloaded and ran should I just same them in their own folder for future use(hopefully not) and is there any that maybe I should run once in a while to check up on the system. I already downloaded spywareblaster, guard, and the third programmed you mentioned.
Thanks again
YEAAAAA!!!!!!!
