Hi and Welcome to TSF!

Please subscribe to this thread to be notified of fixes as soon as they are posted by our Team. To do this, please click the "Thread Tools" button located in the original thread line and selecting "Subscribe to this Thread".

You seem to have two software firewalls on your PC. That's a bad idea. Firewalls, alike antivirus programs do not coexist well. Please uninstall Sygate or Zone Alarm.

On the other hand, there seems to be no anti-virus application installed on this machine. Anti-virus programs protect against infections. Without one, you're vulnerable to every virus, spyware program, trojan and piece of malware that is floating around out there. I urge you to install an anti-virus program as quickly as possible. Please choose one from these 3 free programs that are available for home use:
It's better to print out the next instructions or save them in notepad, because you also have to work in safe mode without networking support, so this page wouldn't be available then.
It is also important you don't miss a step and perform everything in the right order!!.
If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are carrying out the procedures below.

Enable the viewing of Hidden files
* Open Windows Explorer
* Go to Tools > Folder Options > View tab.
* enable the option for `Show hidden files and folder´
* disable the option for `Hide file extensions for known types´
* disable the option for `Hide protected operating system files´
* click "Yes" to confirm & then click "OK"

Please download these additional files/programs :- (Do not run them unless instructed to do so)
Unplug your computer from the Internet when you have finished downloading

Possible areas for concern
Panda found some suspicious files here..
Please visit this website - http://virusscan.jotti.org/
Submit the files for a comprehensive scan -
W:\downloads etc\downloads\BIOS_FOLDER\X2.4983.BIOS\BIOS\x2rlsc hk.exe
W:\downloads etc\downloads\FILE SPLITER JOINER\hjsplit.exe
If the results are positive, you'll have to add these files to KillBox's list for deletion.
W:\downloads etc\downloads\BIOS_FOLDER\X2.4983.BIOS\BIOS\x2rlsc hk.exe
W:\downloads etc\downloads\BIOS_FOLDER\X2.4983.BIOS.rar
W:\downloads etc\downloads\FILE SPLITER JOINER\hjsplit.exe
W:\downloads etc\downloads\FILE SPLITER JOINER.zip
  1. I have to ask you to disable Spywareguard. It hinders the removal of some entries. You can re-enable it after you're clean.
    • Right click the running icon of Spywareguard located in the system tray
    • Go to Menu > File > Exit and confirm the programs close.

  2. As you're no longer running Sygate, I'll remove it from the list of running services.
    1. Click Start > Run - type services.msc.
    2. Locate the Sygate Personal Firewall Pro (SmcService) service and double-click on it to open the Properties dialog.
    3. Click the Stop button.
    4. In the Startup type dropdown select Disabled.
    5. Click the Apply button and then the Ok button.
    6. Close the Services window
    7. Then start HiJackThis & go to Config > Misc.Tools... > Delete an NT service...
In the popup box that appears, type in SmcService & click the OK button.

  3. Run a scan with HiJackThis & select(tick) the following & click [Fix checked] :

      • [X]Scan local drives for temporary files (Please uncheck this option)
      • Cleanup! All Users
    4. Click OK
    5. Press the CleanUp! button to start the program. Reboot/logoff when prompted.
    * CleanUp! will delete all the files in your temp folders without making a backup

  7. Post a fresh HJT log & tell us if you have anymore problems

Your log is clean. Well done
Do you have any more problems with your computer? If not, you should be set to go.

However, there still remains a few bits of housekeeping ...

Reset hidden/system files and folders
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Deselect the Show hidden files and folders option.
  • Select the Hide file extensions for known types option.
  • Select the Hide protected operating system files option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.

Clear Java Cache
  1. Click Start >Settings>Control Panel
  2. Click the Java Plugin Icon
  3. Click the Cache tab
  4. Click the Clear button and click OK to confirm
Note: Please repeat this procedure for each "Java Plugin" button in your Control Panel

Follow the instructions outlined here to clear Java's cache.

Create a new System Restore point
  • click Start >> Run - type SYSDM.CPL & press Enter
  • select the System Restore Tab
  • tick on the checkbox - "Turn off System Restore on all drives"
  • click Apply
  • then untick the same checkbox & click OK

Enable Windows Auto Update
  • Go to Start>Run - type wuaucpl.cpl
  • tick on the checkbox - "Keep my computer up to date"
  • Under settings, choose "Automatically download the updates, and install them on the schedule that I specify".
  • Click on "OK".

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programs:
  • SpywareBlaster to help prevent spyware from installing in the first place.
  • SpywareGuard to catch and block spyware before it can execute.
  • IESpy-Ad to block access to malicious websites so you cannot be redirected to them from an infected site or email.

If you do not have a firewall, here are 3 free ones available for personal use:and a good antivirus like the one you are currently using. It is critical to have both a firewall and an anti-virus application and to keep them updated.

In light of your recent hiccup, I'm sure you'll like to avoid any future infections. Please take a look at these well written articles
Have a safe & happy computing day.
