Please do this...

L2mfix - Download & Save to Desktop

This is a self extracting file. By double clicking on it, it will automatically extract it's contents to a new folder on Desktop.
  1. Close ALL other programs
  2. Double click L2mfix.exe.
  3. When prompted, answer "Accept"
  4. Then click the "Install" button to extract the files to a newly created folder named - L2mfix
  5. Open the L2mfix folder & double click L2mfix.bat
  6. Select option #2 for Run Fix by typing "2" and then press enter
  7. Press any key to reboot your computer.
After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, you will be presented with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it here, along with a new HJT log.

Please Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are told to

Hi and Welcome to TSF!

Please subscribe to this thread so you'll be notified as soon as we post your fix. To do this, please click here. On the proceeding page, make sure Instant notification by email is selected, then click Add subscription.

When was the last time you updated Windows, if ever?Your operating system is seriously outdated. You're susceptible to infections that may otherwise be prevented on a properly updated system. Please visit the Windows Update site and install all available Critical Updates. This will patch your system with the most current security fixes and plug all the known vulnerabilities. Please ensure that you get the Malicious Software Removal Tool. It's part of Critical Updates for June 2005.

Please be advise that it's generally a bad idea to have more than antivirus programs on your machine. Antivirus programs, alike firewalls tend to conflict each other and may produce undesirable results. Please retains one & uninstall the rest.

In the meanwhile, I suggest that you stop using Interent Explorer until we've fully disinfected your machine. Please download & use an alternative browser like Firefox.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

During the course of disinfection, I may ask you to fix a program that you wish to retain. Please post back to inform me.

Hi sUBs

Thanks for your magnificent support and step by step guide.

Though the only trouble is whenver I do a search on Google (Web search) I get a little Microsoft Internet Explorer box popup. For example if I type WWE and a Microsoft Box (Just like one on Windows) popups and says something along the lines of:
Search for WWE at amazon.co.uk amazon stock a varied selection of of new and used DVD's at competitive prices click OK to visit this site.
Its really annoying ao is there a way to remove this sUBs?

Here are the files that Panda cant delete.

I noted that you have SpySweeper & Windows Registry Repair Pro in your machine. Please disable them as they may be intefering with HJT fixes.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After you have disabled them ...
Run a scan with HiJackThis & select(tick) the following & click "Fix checked" :
Your log looks like a photocopy of the previous. I believe it's the work of the program - Windows Registry Repair Pro
Please disable it. If you're unsure how to do it, you can uninstall it & re-install it back after the fix.
Kindly re-do the earlier fix. The folder - C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\ - may be deleted whilst in Safe Mode
Something is reinstating those entries. Let's use another scanner
Download Mwav Virus Checker -> (Use Link 3) - Save on Desktop
Run Mwav.exe by double clicking on it.
  1. Select "all local drives", "scan all files", and press "SCAN".
  2. In the 'Virus Log Information Pane', use [CTRL] + [C] on your keyboard to copy everything found in the lower pane and save it to a notepad file.
  3. Post that in your next reply.
** If prompted that a virus was found and you need to purchase the product to remove the malware, just close out the prompt and let it continue scanning. We are not going to use this to remove anything...but to ID the bad files.
Put it into a text file & attach it in your next post. I will also require the HJT log file.
I thought you have uninstalled Registry Pro. It's showing in the HJT log.
Let's fix it first.
Run a scan with HiJackThis & select(tick) the following & click "Fix checked" :
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery\Blank.htm
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings,ProxyOverride = *new-search.net*;*x-google.net*;localhost
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Windows Registry Repair Pro] C:\Program Files\3B Software\Windows Registry Repair Pro\RegistryRepairPro.exe 4
~~~~~~~~~~~

Then do another scan. Verify if this entry still exist:
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings,ProxyOverride = *new-search.net*;*x-google.net*;localhost
If it's there, we'll have to delete it directly from the Registry.

Click Start>Run - type regedit (this opens the Registry Editor)
Go to File->Export and save the registry somewhere as a backup
Navigate to this key - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings
In the right column, locate & delete only this entry - ProxyOverride

Reboot your computer & post a new log.

Your log is clean. Well done

Just out of curiosity. Which fixed it? Was it the manual registry editing?
Do you have any more problems with your computer? If not, you should be set to go.

However, there still remains a few bits of housekeeping ...

Go to the L2MFix folder & double click L2mfix.bat
  • Select option #4 to "Merge Winlogon Notify Defaults" by typing "4" and then press Enter
  • Type "E" to exit the program.

You may delete the L2MFix folder after that.

Reset hidden/system files and folders
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Deselect the Show hidden files and folders option.
  • Select the Hide file extensions for known types option.
  • Select the Hide protected operating system files option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.

Clear Java Cache
  1. Click Start >Settings>Control Panel
  2. Click the Java Plugin Icon
  3. Click the Cache tab
  4. Click the Clear button and click OK to confirm
Note: Please repeat this procedure for each "Java Plugin" button in your Control Panel

Follow the instructions outlined here to clear Java's cache.

Create a new System Restore point
  • click Start >> Run - type SYSDM.CPL & press Enter
  • select the System Restore Tab
  • tick on the checkbox - "Turn off System Restore on all drives"
  • click Apply
  • then untick the same checkbox & click OK

Enable Windows Auto Update
  • Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Automatic Updates
  • tick on the checkbox - "Keep my computer up to date"
  • Under settings, choose "Automatically download the updates, and install them on the schedule that I specify".
  • Click on "OK".

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programs:
  • SpywareBlaster to help prevent spyware from installing in the first place.
  • SpywareGuard to catch and block spyware before it can execute.
  • IESpy-Ad to block access to malicious websites so you cannot be redirected to them from an infected site or email.

If you do not have a firewall, here are 3 free ones available for personal use:and a good antivirus like the one you are currently using. It is critical to have both a firewall and an anti-virus application and to keep them updated.

In light of your recent hiccup, I'm sure you'll like to avoid any future infections. Please take a look at these well written articles
Have a safe & happy computing day.

Please respond to this thread one more time so we can mark this thread as resolved.
