userint32 error on startup - help!
Hi,
Lately I've been getting an error on startup, which states that the file C:\Windows\userint32.exe can't be found. It takes unusually long to long in because my computer is trying to find the file. Then I get the error message. Any help is appreciated - here is my log. ==================================================================== Log was analyzed using KRC HijackThis Analyzer - Updated on 4/1/05 Get updates at http://www.greyknight17.com/download.htm#programs ***Security Programs Detected*** C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SNDSrvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SPBBC\SPBBCSvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\IWP\NPFMntor.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exe O2 - BHO: NAV Helper - {BDF3E430-B101-42AD-A544-FADC6B084872} - C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll O3 - Toolbar: Norton AntiVirus - {42CDD1BF-3FFB-4238-8AD1-7859DF00B1D6} - C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ccApp] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Symantec NetDriver Monitor] C:\PROGRA~1\SYMNET~1\SNDMon.exe O23 - Service: Symantec Event Manager (ccEvtMgr) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe O23 - Service: Symantec Password Validation (ccPwdSvc) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccPwdSvc.exe O23 - Service: Symantec Settings Manager (ccSetMgr) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exe O23 - Service: Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect Service (navapsvc) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc.exe O23 - Service: Norton AntiVirus Firewall Monitor Service (NPFMntor) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\IWP\NPFMntor.exe O23 - Service: SAVScan - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\SAVScan.exe O23 - Service: ScriptBlocking Service (SBService) - Symantec Corporation - C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\SYMANT~1\SCRIPT~1\SBServ.exe O23 - Service: Symantec Network Drivers Service (SNDSrvc) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SNDSrvc.exe O23 - Service: Symantec SPBBCSvc (SPBBCSvc) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SPBBC\SPBBCSvc.exe O23 - Service: Symantec Core LC - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exe ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 7:29:35 PM, on 5/30/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\evntsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe D:\iTunesHelper.exe C:\windows\system32\cyygwbsp.exe C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\X0FF\xde79656.exe C:\WINDOWS\wpanc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Zwxpac.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\envhdgdl.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\mpgiy.exe C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\morcr71.exe C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\iruk.exe C:\windows\system32\calc.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\jjnuq.dll/sp.html#10001 R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\jjnuq.dll/sp.html#10001 R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = about:blank R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = about:blank R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://www.one2onematch.com/registra...?pid=969001023 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = 127.0.0.1 R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\userint32.exe O2 - BHO: Band Class - {01F44A8A-8C97-4325-A378-76E68DC4AB2E} - C:\WINDOWS\systb.dll (file missing) O2 - BHO: Xbrowse Class - {AC109D01-32D6-4EB5-8300-D3C5EBAC7C83} - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\x2ff\x2ff.dll (file missing) O2 - BHO: Xbrowse Class - {D319662B-D5BF-4538-ADF3-8D3E36362608} - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\x0ff\x0ff.dll (file missing) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {F1AFF455-C4AD-46E3-1990-97F1E91C5B7B} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\iphl.dll (file missing) O3 - Toolbar: &Yahoo! Hello itsnotmytree777 and welcome to TSF,
We will need additional tools/logs to clear up this particular infection. Download and install CleanUp http://cleanup.stevengould.org/ Download KillBox http://www.atribune.org/downloads/KillBox.exe Download rkfiles http://skads.org/special/rkfiles.zip and unzip the contents to a new folder on your desktop. Download the remv3.zip at http://forums.skads.org/index.php?showtopic=80 (look for the attachment posted in that second reply). Make a new folder on the root drive C:\ and unzip remv3.zip files into it. Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible also. Run CleanUp program now and logoff. REBOOT TO SAFE MODE. These tools MUST be run in safe mode! Once in safe mode, double click rkfiles.bat file to run it. It will scan for a while, so please be patient. Wait until the DOS window closes. Open the C:\log.txt it created and rename it log1.txt. Now open the folder where you saved remv3.zip files and double click the rem.bat file and let it run. It will delete the files and remove the infection and then make a log of the files it finds. The log file will be C:\log.txt and bad1.txt **Note** Each tool uses log.txt as it’s output file so make sure you save the entries from one tools log before running the other as it will overwrite the file if you don’t. Reboot back to normal mode and post the contents of both the log.txt and log1.txt in your next post. |

Thank you very much for your reply. I started to follow your instructions, but right now the CleanUp and KillBox links aren't working. I can get to the CleanUp site, but the download doesn't work, and the KillBox doesn't work at all. I'll try again tonight.

Hi,
The CleanUp link is working fine now, I just tried it. Try this link for Killbox: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/file...re/KillBox.zip |

Ok, here we go. Please take your time.
Please print out or copy this page to Notepad since you will not have any of browsers open while you are fixing this. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. Again, you should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below. Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked. For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep). Download CWShredder at http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/CWShredder.exe and run it. Click on 'I Agree' button if you agree with it. Click on 'Fix' (it will automatically fix anything it finds for you) and OK. If it asks if you want to delete a certain random file, choose No and post that filename here. Let it finish the scan and then hit Next and Exit. Right click on this link http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/DelO15Domains.inf and choose Save As. Save it to your desktop. Right click on that file and choose Install. It will run immediately (you won't be able to see anything happen). You may delete it afterwards. Please download the ISTBar removal tool from Symantec into it's own folder and run it. Note: Removing this adware component from the system will likely cause the program that installed it to not function as intended. The uninstaller generally identifies the programs that will not work after uninstallation. Download AboutBuster http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/AboutBuster.zip and unzip it to a folder on your the Desktop. Run AboutBuster and click OK. Click Update and then Check For Update to see if there are any updates. Close the program now. Reboot your system in Safe Mode (By repeatedly tapping the F8 key until the menu appears). Run Killbox. *Extract the program to your desktop and double-click on its folder, then double-click on Killbox.exe to start the program. *In the killbox program, select the Delete on Reboot option. *Open the text file with these instructions in it, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C: C:\WINDOWS\system32\cyygwbsp.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\in10b6s.dlltmp C:\WINDOWS\system32\kiapmm.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\kwgab.dat C:\WINDOWS\system32\msdjgk.dll C:\WINDOWS\system32\rseihhb.dll C:\WINDOWS\system32\udokp.dll C:\WINDOWS\systb.exe C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe C:\WINDOWS\wpanc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Zwxpac.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\envhdgdl.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\mpgiy.exe C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\morcr71.exe C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\iruk.exe Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard". Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt. Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist: Viewpoint YourSiteBar ISTBar ISTSvc Admilli Service Roaz Media Access 180Solutions AutoUpdate Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank R1 - Hi,
You did a great job that first round! B]Please print out or copy this page to Notepad[/b] since you will not have any of browsers open while you are fixing this. Reboot your system in Safe Mode (By repeatedly tapping the F8 key until the menu appears). Go into Hijack This->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click “Kill process” for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it):(You must kill them one at a time). C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmlrr.exe Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist: CxtPls Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): O2 - BHO: (no name) - {016235BE-59D4-4CEB-ADD5-E2378282A1D9} - C:\Program Files\CxtPls\cxtpls.dll (file missing) O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [p34P3qW] dmlrr.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\kiapmm.exe Delete the following Files indicated in RED and Folders indicated in BLUE if they still exist. C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmlrr.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\kiapmm.exe C:\Program Files\CxtPls Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes. Reboot into Normal Mode run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and run KRC HijackThis Analyzer http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/KRC%...20Analyzer.zip in the same folder to get the result.txt log. Just post the contents of the result.txt file in your next reply. |

Hi,
Download KillBox http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/KillBox.exe. Reboot into Safe Mode (tapping F8 or F5) Run KillBox and check the box that says 'End Explorer Shell While Killing File'. Next click on 'Delete on Reboot'. For each of the following files below, check the box that says 'Unregister .dll Before Deleting' if it's not grayed out. Copy and paste each of the following into KillBox (hitting the X button for each file - choose NO when it asks if you want to reboot): C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate\AutoUpdate.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\dsobd.exe Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist: AutoUpdate Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AutoUpdater] "C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate\AutoUpdate.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [p34P3qW] dssetmgr.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Y0vFRka6S] dsobd.exe Delete the following Files indicated in RED and Folders indicated in BLUE if they still exist. C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate C:\WINDOWS\system32\dsobd.exe dssetmgr.exe Do a search for this file and delete it Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! |

Hi,
Your log is clean Nice job.Turn off System Restore Click Start > Right Click My Computer > Properties. Click the System Restore tab and Check "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives". Click Apply. When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click Yes to do this then Click OK. Now reenable system restore. This will prevent any reinfection from any previous restore points. To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial http://www.greyknight17.com/spyware.htm#prevent and use the tools/programs provided. |
