HJT log help VX2 malware....
My ad aware has identified my problem as VX2 malware but it cannont remove it properly.... This malware has effectively hijacked my IE and pretty much everything even remotely to do with Internet Explorer....
I did my research and everyone says that HJT can get the job done and firx this but that i need to go to a forum and have someone that knows what there doing take a look at my Log. So here it is: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 1:48:41 PM, on 5/30/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Analog Devices\SoundMAX\SMAgent.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\AGRSMMSG.exe C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel\atiptaxx.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe C:\Program Files\Roxio\Easy CD Creator 5\DirectCD\DirectCD.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_02\bin\jusched.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPLpr.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\DRIVERS\W32X86\3\E_S0BIC1.EXE C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasServ.exe C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\sdkiw.exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasDtServ.exe C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Works Shared\WkCalRem.exe C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE Personal\Ad-Aware.exe C:\WINDOWS\appia.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntvdm.exe C:\Documents and Settings\Jay\Desktop\HijackThis.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://qus8l.hpwis.com/ R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing O2 - BHO: AcroIEHlprObj Class - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dll O2 - BHO: (no name) - {86C67865-5E4B-89A3-AC2F-5B5A6034A958} - C:\WINDOWS\iptg32.dll O2 - BHO: Google Toolbar Helper - {AA58ED58-01DD-4d91-8333-CF10577473F7} - c:\program files\google\googletoolbar1.dll O2 - BHO: CNavExtBho Class - {BDF3E430-B101-42AD-A544-FADC6B084872} - C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AGRSMMSG] AGRSMMSG.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Cpqset] C:\Program Files\HPQ\Default Settings\cpqset.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PreloadApp] c:\hp\drivers\printers\photosmart\hphprld.exe c:\hp\drivers\printers\photosmart\setup.exe -d O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [srmclean] C:\Cpqs\Scom\srmclean.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ATIPTA] C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel\atiptaxx.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ccApp] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ccRegVfy] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccRegVfy.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [netbk32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\netbk32.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AdaptecDirectCD] "C:\Program Files\Roxio\Easy CD Creator 5\DirectCD\DirectCD.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LifeScape Media Detector] C:\Program Files\Picasa\PicasaMediaDetector.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_02\bin\jusched.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SynTPLpr] C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPLpr.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SynTPEnh] C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [EPSON Stylus C62 Series] C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\DRIVERS\W32X86\3\E_S0BIC1.EXE /P23 "EPSON Stylus C62 Series" /O6 "USB001" /M "Stylus C62" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [{0228e555-4f9c-4e35-a3ec-b109a192b4c2}] C:\Program Files\Google\Gmail Notifier\G001-1.0.24.0\gnotify.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [gcasServ] "C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasServ.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Symantec NetDriver Monitor] C:\PROGRA~1\SYMNET~1\SNDMon.exe /Consumer O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iTunesHelper] "C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sdkiw.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\sdkiw.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [nettc32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\nettc32.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [seticlient] C:\Program Files\SETI@home\SETI@home.exe -min O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Yahoo! Do you have the ad-on Vx2 Cleaner for Ad aware SE? You can download it at www.lavasoft.com I also suggest you get Microsoft AntiSpyware from www.majorgeeks.com it really helps, the other day it found a browser hijacker on my computer, you may have the same thing.

Hello JohnDeereMan13 and welcome to TSF,
Please print out or copy this page to Notepad since you will not have any of browsers open while you are fixing this. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. Again, you should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below. Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked. For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep). The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link doesn't work) and install it. Do not run it yet. Download AboutBuster http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/AboutBuster.zip and unzip it to a folder on your the Desktop. Run AboutBuster and click OK. Click Update and then Check For Update to see if there are any updates. Close the program now. Download CWShredder at http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/CWShredder.exe and run it. Click on 'I Agree' button if you agree with it. Click on 'Fix' (it will automatically fix anything it finds for you) and OK. If it asks if you want to delete a certain random file, choose No and post that filename here. Let it finish the scan and then hit Next and Exit. Reboot your system in Safe Mode (By repeatedly tapping the F8 key until the menu appears). Go to Start->Run and type in services.msc and hit OK. Then look for Workstation NetLogon Service ( 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I) and double click on it. Click on the Stop button and under Startup type, choose Disabled. Go into Hijack This->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click “Kill process” for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it):(You must kill them one at a time). C:\WINDOWS\system32\sdkiw.exe C:\WINDOWS\appia.exe Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://qus8l.hpwis.com/ R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing O2 - BHO: (no name) - {86C67865-5E4B-89A3-AC2F-5B5A6034A958} - C:\WINDOWS\iptg32.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [netbk32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\netbk32.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [nettc32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\nettc32.exe O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=http://qus8l.hpwis.com O23 - Service: Workstation NetLogon Service ( 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\netzf32.exe (file missing) Delete the following Files indicated in RED and Folders indicated in BLUE if they still exist. C:\WINDOWS\system32\sdkiw.exe C:\WINDOWS\appia.exe C:\WINDOWS\iptg32.dll C:\WINDOWS\system32\netbk32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\nettc32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\netzf32.exe Run AboutBuster and click OK. Click Start->OK and then follow the rest of the prompts to scan (choose Yes/OK for all). It will ask you if you want a second scan, choose Yes. Save the log file and post it here. Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes. Reboot into Normal Mode run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and run KRC HijackThis Analyzer http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/KRC%...20Analyzer.zip in the same folder to get the result.txt log. Just post the contents of the result.txt file in your next reply. Please download and run the following programs: notify.bat - right click on this link http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/notify.bat and choose Save As...Save it. VX2Finder http://www.downloads.subratam.org/VX2Finder.exe Run VX2Finder(126) and click on the Find VX2.BetterInternet button. Click Make Log and post this in this thread. Run notify.bat and it should open up a notify.txt Notepad file. Copy and paste this in the thread. |

Hi,
Please do the following also: Download L2MFix from one of these two locations: http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts. Then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing Enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening. After a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread. IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 or any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so! |

To maintain system stability Window must restore the original versions of these files" end quote Is that normal?? and will it really affect my systems stability??

Hi,
In regard to the error message by Windows, there are no system critical files in the Temp folder. Go to Start>Run and type in sfc /scannow. This is the System File Checker, you may need your Windows XP disc. Your HJT log is clean, but let's make sure there is nothing else lurking that would prompt that message by Windows: Please empty any Quarantine folder in your antivirus program and purge all recovery items in the Spybot program (if you use it) before running this tool. Download the Mwav virus checker at http://www.mwti.net/antivirus/mwav.asp (Use Link 3) 1. Save it to a folder. 2. Reboot into Safe Mode. 3. Double click the Mwav.exe file. This is a stand alone tool and NOT just a virus checker......so it won't install anything. 4. Select all local drives, scan all files, and press SCAN. When it is completed, anything found will be displayed in the lower pane. 5. In the Virus Log Information Pane...... Left click and highlight all the information in the Lower pane --- Use &CTRL C &on your keyboard to copy everything found in the lower pane and save it to a notepad file *Note* If prompted that a virus was found and you need to purchase the product to remove the malware, just close out the prompt and let it continue scanning. We are not going to use this to remove anything...but to ID the bad files. Once you copy that to a Notepad file...highlight the text and copy it here. |
