Urgent -"48.exe dialer" put porn all over my PC
Please help. Despite Zone Alarm, AVG etc, I managed to get infected with something vile which put a bunch of very explicit porn shortcuts all over my PC. And my elderly mom needs to use the PC tonight!

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.
Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked. For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep). Download KillBox http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/KillBox.exe. Don't run it yet. Reboot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Make sure to close any open browsers. Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.specialgoods.info/ad/ad0413/ R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {405742E5-72C2-7A10-4FF8-09A421C00026} - C:\WINDOWS\Znigzgwu.dll (file missing) R3 - URLSearchHook: transURL Class - {C7EDAB2E-D7F9-11D8-BA48-C79B0C409D70} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\SEARCH~1.DLL O2 - BHO: - {b1b21caa-aba4-490e-a244-1117c2769315} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\cvgeabq.dll O2 - BHO: (no name) - {ECA36A9C-9EAC-3ECA-5DD1-918B55DE9416} - C:\WINDOWS\Znigzgwu.dll (file missing) O3 - Toolbar: Search - {1E39B486-1098-6324-21BA-CB3BC5ADA39E} - C:\WINDOWS\Znigzgwu.dll (file missing) O16 - DPF: {11111111-1111-1111-1111-666666666666} - ms-its:mhtml:file://d:\foo.mht!http://doctorinternet.co.uk//x.chm::/open.exe Run KillBox and check the box that says 'End Explorer Shell While Killing File'. Next click on 'Delete on Reboot'. For each of the following files below, check the box that says 'Unregister .dll Before Deleting' if it's not grayed out. Copy and paste each of the following into KillBox (hitting the X button for each file - choose NO when it asks if you want to reboot): C:\WINDOWS\System32\SEARCH~1.DLL C:\WINDOWS\System32\cvgeabq.dll C:\WINDOWS\Znigzgwu.dll C:\WINDOWS\System32\guninst.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\popup_bl.dll C:\WINDOWS\System32\SEARCHDLL.DLL C:\WINDOWS\System32\param32.dll C:\WINDOWS\System32\systr.dll Reboot into Normal Mode run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here.

Didn't work - now what???
Greykneight17, I followed your instructions - TO THE LETTER. It didn't work. Never mind how often I delete the relevant items with HijackThis and with Killbox, they remain/return there steadfast. I'm at my wit's end.
And by now I have TWENTY explicit porn shortcuts on my desktop that I cannot get rid off ( deleted them 14 times and back they come with vigour!) , IE continually diverts to some porn site and AVG keeps telling me that it detects " Trojan horse Downloader.Agent.12." in C:\ WINDOWS\59.exe ..and I get window popoups coming out of my ears. What shall I do? Here is the last HijackThis log. Sorry to say it will read EXACTLY the same as the previous one. I DID try. Now what???? I think I'm clean now- am I ??( was " Urgent - 48.exe dialer put porn all over my PC"
I think I finally got rid of the vexed Trojan dialer and the 20 porn short cuts. Repeated instructions BUT turned off "systems restore" this time.
I think the darn "specialgoods" thing which screwed up the system has gone. For good. Could any of you computer gods take a look and give me the thumbs up if it's clean. Many thanks, your help was greatly appreciated. Your log is clean.
Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer and uncheck the same box to enable System Restore. Make sure to get the latest updates for Windows and Internet Explorer at http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.co....aspx?ln=en-us. To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial and use the tools provided. Are there any problems now? If not, you should be set to go.
