Call me paranoid!
Hello all,
First of all, I regularly update my virus checker at least once a week and run a full system test again once a week. So any problems I get are found within a couple of days, and hopefully dealt with. I ran avg virus scanner and found :- WORM./ALCAN.A which avg claims to have dealt with and removed. I then ran Spybot which rooted out a few spywares and found :- Trojan Horse IRC/Backdoor.sd.bot.185.AG Again, this claims to have been removed..... But do you know when you get that feeling that something is still lurking in the background? Well thats what I'm feeling! Have installed and run hijackthis.exe and saved the log file. Have also run analyze hijackthis and have another log file which is posted below. I would be very grateful if you could spot anything suspicious amongst this lot, and let me know. Many thanks, Eddie. Here is the analyzed log file:- (p.s. After posting the log i noticed the p2pnetwork.exe in the 04 section of the log. This is were the alcan.a virus seemed to come from, whether this is still a problem I don't know. I run Bearshare and Limewire and am not sure whether these are linked.) ==================================================================== Log was analyzed using KRC HijackThis Analyzer - Updated on 4/1/05 Get updates at http://www.greyknight17.com/download.htm#programs ***Security Programs Detected*** C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgemc.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgamsvr.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgupsvc.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AVG7_EMC] C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgemc.exe O23 - Service: AVG7 Alert Manager Server (Avg7Alrt) - GRISOFT, s.r.o. - C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgamsvr.exe O23 - Service: AVG7 Update Service (Avg7UpdSvc) - GRISOFT, s.r.o. - C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgupsvc.exe ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 10:37:49, on 26/05/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_02\bin\jusched.exe C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\PCSuite\DATALA~1\DATALA~1.EXE C:\PROGRA~1\Nokia\NOKIAP~1\TRAYAP~1.EXE C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\PCSuite\Services\SERVIC~1.EXE C:\PROGRA~1\WIDCOMM\BLUETO~1\BTSTAC~1.EXE C:\Documents and Settings\New User\Desktop\anti-virus programs\hijackthis\HijackThis.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_02\bin\jusched.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DataLayer] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\PCSuite\DATALA~1\DATALA~1.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PCSuiteTrayApplication] C:\PROGRA~1\Nokia\NOKIAP~1\TRAYAP~1.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [p2pnetwork] p2pnetwork.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [p2pnetwork] p2pnetwork.exe O4 - HKCU\..\RunServices: [p2pnetwork] p2pnetwork.exe O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_02\bin\npjpi150_02.dll O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_02\bin\npjpi150_02.dll O16 - DPF: {0E8D0700-75DF-11D3-8B4A-0008C7450C4A} (DjVuCtl Class) - http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/co...rolLite_EN.cab O16 - DPF: {402EE96E-2CE8-482D-ADA5-CECEEA07E16D} (TurnTool Scene) - http://www.turntool.com/ViewerInstall.exe O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.real.com/257d4034...p/RdxIE601.cab O16 - DPF: {6414512B-B978-451D-A0D8-FCFDF33E833C} (WUWebControl Class) - http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...?1108233156283 O16 - DPF: {745395C8-D0E1-4227-8586-624CA9A10A8D} - http://cam1.east-ayrshire.gov.uk/activex/AMC.cab O23 - Service: Bluetooth Service (btwdins) - WIDCOMM, Inc. - C:\Program Files\WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\bin\btwdins.exe End of KRC HijackThis Analyzer Log. ==================================================================== Last edited by eddiec; 05-26-2005 at 04:21 AM. Hi Eddie - Welcome to TSF
*Click Here to download Killbox by Option^Explicit. *Extract the program to your desktop and double-click on its folder, then double-click on Killbox.exe to start the program. *In the killbox program, select the Delete on Reboot option. *Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C: Code:
C:\Program Files\MsConfigs\MsConfigs.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\p2pnetwork.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\CMD.COM C:\WINDOWS\system32\netstat.com C:\WINDOWS\system32\ping.com C:\WINDOWS\system32\regedit.com C:\WINDOWS\system32\tasklist.com C:\WINDOWS\system32\taskkill.com C:\WINDOWS\system32\taskmgr.com C:\WINDOWS\system32\tracert.com *Click the "Delete File" button (red circle with a white X). *Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. *Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt. Reboot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [p2pnetwork] p2pnetwork.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [p2pnetwork] p2pnetwork.exe O4 - HKCU\..\RunServices: [p2pnetwork] p2pnetwork.exe O16 - DPF: {402EE96E-2CE8-482D-ADA5-CECEEA07E16D} (TurnTool Scene) - http://www.turntool.com/ViewerInstall.exe O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.real.com/257d403...ip/RdxIE601.cab Please remember to close all other windows, including browsers before clicking ‘Fix checked’. Reboot into Normal Mode run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and run KRC HijackThis Analyzer http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/KRC%...20Analyzer.zip in the same folder to get the result.txt log. Just post the contents of the result.txt file in your next reply. 4SG |

not so paranoid now...
Hello again,
Done exactly as requested, and those 5 bad guys disappeared after re-checking them. They don't appear to be in the hijack analyzed log any more. But here's the analyzed log report anyway:- ==================================================================== Log was analyzed using KRC HijackThis Analyzer - Updated on 4/1/05 Get updates at http://www.greyknight17.com/download.htm#programs ***Security Programs Detected*** C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgemc.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgamsvr.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgupsvc.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AVG7_EMC] C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgemc.exe O23 - Service: AVG7 Alert Manager Server (Avg7Alrt) - GRISOFT, s.r.o. - C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgamsvr.exe O23 - Service: AVG7 Update Service (Avg7UpdSvc) - GRISOFT, s.r.o. - C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgupsvc.exe ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 00:03:03, on 27/05/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_02\bin\jusched.exe C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\PCSuite\DATALA~1\DATALA~1.EXE C:\PROGRA~1\Nokia\NOKIAP~1\TRAYAP~1.EXE C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\PCSuite\Services\SERVIC~1.EXE C:\PROGRA~1\WIDCOMM\BLUETO~1\BTSTAC~1.EXE C:\Documents and Settings\New User\Desktop\anti-virus programs\hijackthis\HijackThis.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_02\bin\jusched.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DataLayer] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\PCSuite\DATALA~1\DATALA~1.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PCSuiteTrayApplication] C:\PROGRA~1\Nokia\NOKIAP~1\TRAYAP~1.EXE O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_02\bin\npjpi150_02.dll O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_02\bin\npjpi150_02.dll O16 - DPF: {0E8D0700-75DF-11D3-8B4A-0008C7450C4A} (DjVuCtl Class) - http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/co...rolLite_EN.cab O16 - DPF: {6414512B-B978-451D-A0D8-FCFDF33E833C} (WUWebControl Class) - http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...?1108233156283 O16 - DPF: {745395C8-D0E1-4227-8586-624CA9A10A8D} - http://cam1.east-ayrshire.gov.uk/activex/AMC.cab O23 - Service: Bluetooth Service (btwdins) - WIDCOMM, Inc. - C:\Program Files\WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\bin\btwdins.exe End of KRC HijackThis Analyzer Log. ==================================================================== Any more for any more, or have you cured me? Eddie,
Your log is clean. Are there any problems now? If not, you should be set to go. The System Restore Points on your computer most likely contain traces of the recent Infections/Malware. Please clear your System Restore Points by doing the following: To turn off System Restore,Click Start > right-click My Computer and then click Properties. Click the System Restore tab > Check "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives". Click Apply. When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click Yes to do this. Click OK. Reboot your System. Now create a new Restore Point by doing the following: To turn on System Restore,Click Start. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties. Click the System Restore tab. Uncheck "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives." Click Apply, and then OK. To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial http://www.greyknight17.com/spyware.htm#prevent and use the tools provided. Please respond to this thread one more time so we can mark this thread as resolved. 4SG |
