Hello gofish620 and welcome to TSF
Please print out or copy this page to Notepad in order to assist you when carrying out the following instructions. Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked. WildTangent - This is an online gaming package that is installed by a number of third party applications and even OEMs, ISPs and AIM. The games aspect of this is really rather cool. The being installed without you asking for it isn't good at all. They collect information about you and your usage. We recommend uninstalling it. Reboot your system in Safe Mode (By repeatedly tapping the F8 key until the menu appears). Go into Hijack This->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click “Kill process” for each one (You must kill them one at a time). C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\GameDrvr.exe C:\Program Files\AWS\WeatherBug\Weather.exe Click > Start > Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs and uninstall the following programs: Viewpoint WildTangent WeatherBug Open Hijack This and click on Scan. Check the following entries (make sure you do not miss any) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file) O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WildTangent CDA] "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\GameDrvr.exe" /startup "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0500.dll" O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Weather] C:\Program Files\AWS\WeatherBug\Weather.exe 1 O9 - Extra button: WeatherBug - {AF6CABAB-61F9-4f12-A198-B7D41EF1CB52} - C:\Program Files\AWS\WeatherBug\Weather.exe (HKCU) O16 - DPF: {3A7FE611-1994-4EF1-A09F-99456752289D} (WildTangent Active Launcher) - http://install.wildtangent.com/Acti...iveLauncher.cab Please remember to close all other windows, including browsers then click Fix checked. Delete the following Files indicated in RED and Folders indicated in BLUE if they still exist. C:\Program Files\Viewpoint C:\Program Files\WildTangent C:\Program Files\AWS\WeatherBug Reboot your System in normal mode. If you have a fast internet connection (Broadband), run an online scan at Trend Micro or RAV Antivirus. Please select the “autoclean” option when using Trend Micro. Please post a fresh Hijack This log so that we can check if your system is clean. |

Hi gofish620
Your sister’s log is clean. I noticed POADB had given you a similar link before, but I will add this FYI. This is a good time to set up protection against further attacks. Read How Did I Get Infected In The First Place?. You need an antivirus that is continually updated, a good firewall, a spyware blocker such as Spyware Blaster, and a real time spyware program such as Spyware Guard, to prevent spyware intrusions. IE-Spyad is another excellent program that places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list, which will help prevent attempts to infect your system. All of the above have good free versions available. However, be very wary with any security software that is advertised in popups or in other ways. They are not only usually of no use, but often have malware in them. More information and downloads are available at the following links: Spyware Blaster Spyware Guard IE-Spyad |

Hi gofish620
One more little thing I forgot. Turn off System Restore Click Start > Right Click My Computer > Properties. Click the System Restore tab and Check "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives". Click Apply. When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click Yes to do this then Click OK. Now reenable system restore. This will prevent any reinfection from any previous restore points. Are there any problems now? If not, you should be set to go |
