hello tswilcox,
Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below. Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked. For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep). Right click on this link http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/DelO15Domains.inf and choose Save As. Save it to your desktop. Right click on that file and choose Install. It will run immediately (you won't be able to see anything happen). You may delete it afterwards. Download CWShredder and run it. Click on 'I Agree' button if you agree with it. Click on 'Fix' (it will automatically fix anything it finds for you) and OK. If it asks if you want to delete a certain random file, choose No and post that filename here. Let it finish the scan and then hit Next and Exit. Please download Ad-aware SE and install it if you don't have it already. Make sure it's the newest version and check for any updates before running it. Also go here to get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. To run this tool, go into Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection. Also make sure to customize the settings in Ad-aware for better scan results. Run the scan and fix everything that it finds. Download and install Spybot S&D http://security.kolla.de/. Run Spybot and click on the 'Search for Updates' button. Install any updates that are available. Now click Mode menu and choose 'Advanced Mode'. Next click on Immunize to your left. Click the Immunize button (green cross) on top to Immunize your computer - you should do this each time there is an update. Now go to Tools->Resident and make sure that TeaTimer is checked. What this will do is monitor any system/registry changes and will ask you for permission to change any of these settings. Now click on the 'Spybot-S&D' option on the top left to go back to the main screen. Next click on the 'Check for Problems' button. Let it run the scan. If it finds something, check all those in RED and hit the 'Fix Selected Problems' button. Exit Spybot. If you keep getting the DSO Exploit entries, even after you updated Windows and fixed them, then download the Spybot DSO Exploit Fix http://majorgeeks.com/download4392.html and install it over the current Spybot installation. The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link don't work) and install it. We will use this later. Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist: ADVANC~1 Ebates_MoeMoneyMaker (AWS)WeatherBug WeatherBug - it's adware. If you didn't install this yourself, uninstall it. If you did install it yourself, you may keep it and ignore any fixes/deletions listed below. Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://websearch.drsnsrch.com/sidesearch.cgi?id= R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://websearch.drsnsrch.com/sidesearch.cgi?id= R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://websearch.drsnsrch.com/sidesearch.cgi?id= R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://websearch.drsnsrch.com/sidesearch.cgi?id= R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://websearch.drsnsrch.com/sidesearch.cgi?id= R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = http://websearch.drsnsrch.com/sidesearch.cgi?id= R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = websearch.drsnsrch.com/q.cgi?q= R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing O2 - BHO: PynixObj Class - {00000000-DD60-0064-6EC2-6E0100000000} - C:\WINNT\Pynix.dll O2 - BHO: Band Class - {01F44A8A-8C97-4325-A378-76E68DC4AB2E} - C:\WINNT\systb.dll O2 - BHO: posHelp Class - {CDEEC43D-3572-4E95-A2A5-F519D29F00C0} - C:\PROGRA~1\ADVANC~1\Toolbar.dll (file missing) O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {2CDE1A7D-A478-4291-BF31-E1B4C16F92EB} - (no file) O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ohkrgcz] c:\winnt\system32\ohkrgcz.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [farmmext] C:\WINNT\farmmext.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [EbatesMoeMoneyMaker0] "C:\Program Files\Ebates_MoeMoneyMaker\EbatesMoeMoneyMaker0.ex e" O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Windows Registry Scan] regscan32.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [NDIS Adapter] ndis.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [IPConfig] svcxnv32.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [PCShield] regsvr32 /s "C:\WINNT\system32\sfg_5744.dll" O8 - Extra context menu item: Ebates - file://C:\Program Files\Ebates_MoeMoneyMaker\Sy350\Tp350\scri350a.ht m O9 - Extra button: Related - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINNT\web\related.htm O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Show &Related Links - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINNT\web\related.htm O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file) O9 - Extra button: Ebates - {6685509E-B47B-4f47-8E16-9A5F3A62F683} - file://C:\Program Files\Ebates_MoeMoneyMaker\Sy350\Tp350\scri350a.ht m (file missing) (HKCU) O9 - Extra button: WeatherBug - {AF6CABAB-61F9-4f12-A198-B7D41EF1CB52} - C:\Program Files\AWS\WeatherBug\Weather.exe (file missing) (HKCU) O15 - ProtocolDefaults: 'http' protocol is in My Computer Zone, should be Internet Zone Delete the following Files/Folders in RED (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist: C:\WINNT\Pynix.dll C:\WINNT\systb.dll C:\PROGRA~1\ADVANC~1 c:\winnt\system32\ohkrgcz.exe C:\WINNT\farmmext.exe C:\WINNT\farmmext.ini C:\Program Files\Ebates_MoeMoneyMaker regscan32.exe <<< search for this one ndis.exe<<<search for this one svcxnv32.exe<<<search for this one C:\WINNT\system32\sfg_5744.dll C:\WINNT\web C:\Program Files\AWS Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. Save the log file and run KRC HijackThis Analyzer in the same folder to get the result.txt log. Just post the contents of the result.txt file in the forum. This file looks a bit suspect C:\WINNT\system32\srvany.exe, can you please check out the properties of the file listed in blue ( srvany.exe ) and tell me if it was a recently created ( right click on the file and left click on properties)
