My System

Welcome to TSF.

We will need one another log from you to fix this one:

Download StartDreck http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/StartDreck.zip

Unzip to its own folder and start the program:
Press 'Config'
Press 'mark all'

Uncheck the following boxes only:
System/Running Process -> List Modules
System/Drivers -> NT Services
System/Drivers -> NT Kernel- and FS-drivers
Press 'OK'

Press 'Save' and select the location to save the log file (default is the same folder as the application)

Post the log in this thread.

My System

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link don't work) and install it. Don't run it yet.

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers.

Go to C:\WINDOWS\ and open up wininit.bak in Notepad. Delete this line:

`NUL=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\A~NSISU_.EXE

Save the file and close it.

Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it):

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CAP3RS.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CAP3LA.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CAP3SW.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CONNMIE.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\DXCONF.EXE

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CAP3RS.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CAP3LA.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CAP3SW.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CONNMIE.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\DXCONF.EXE

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSTHC.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\OPENWIN.DLL

Also delete ALL those EXE and DLL files (in their corresponding directory) listed above in RED.

Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes.

Reboot into Normal Mode and run new HijackThis scan. If there were some entries that didn't show up in Safe Mode, you may check and fix those that appear now in normal mode (if you do that, make sure to run a new scan again). Save the log file and run KRC HijackThis Analyzer in the same folder to get the result.txt log. Just post the contents of the result.txt file in the forum.

Run StartDreck again.
Press 'Config'
Press 'mark all'

Uncheck the following boxes only:
System/Running Process -> List Modules
System/Drivers -> NT Services
System/Drivers -> NT Kernel- and FS-drivers
Press 'OK'

Press 'Save' and select the location to save the log file (default is the same folder as the application)

Post the log in this thread.

No information is available on any of those three processes, that is why removal was recommended. If you can validate they are for your printer, then skip those instructions relating to those files. I will add that those processes do NOT appear to be valid printer files from your log, but you are the only one who can validate it.

Post a fresh log when ready.

I studied those 3 Files and they all have theie version tab it says they are from Canon Inc. and that they were created long ago... not just recently...Can you also help me which registry entries (based on my log) not to delete especially those that are in color red? i cant seem to know which i need to delete. Im afraid deleting these entries especially those might affect my Computer Resources! Anyway, when was this se.dll created? it seems most of the problems in different forums has this in thread.. hope you could respond immediately....

If this entry also shows as Canon:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CAP3ON] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CAP3ON.EXE

Then it's the only one to skip fixing with HJT here (of course, don't delete any of those four files either).

When was it created? Why would that matter? Seriously doubt we will be able to tell you.

Please press on with all of the other instructions and post a fresh log.

Here's my log.... after i did the steps... i excluded the entry

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CAP3ON] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CAP3ON.EXE

I also did not delete those files related to the Canon Printer....

Anyway, is it good that when i ran HJT these files were missing?
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSTHC.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\OPENWIN.DLL

If you can't find those two files, then they should be gone.

Any idea what this one is for?[b]

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [AliceSD] Shaitan1678.exe[b]

If not, run HijackThis and fix it:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [AliceSD] Shaitan1678.exe

Then delete that file -> Shaitan1678.exe

Restart and post a new HijackThis log.

I manually searched my system to look for the file Shaitan1678.exe, and unfortunately i could not find this file. Does it still exist? i still haven't ran HJT; i'll run that as soon as i get your reply. Anyway, thank you so much for the help, i no longer receive those horrible pop-ups and also i no longer receive those se.dll warning. Thanks and waiting for your reply soon. Thanks.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and UNcheck the box labeled 'Hide protected operating system files'.

Now see if you can find/delete that file.

Post a fresh HJT log either way, after the attempt.

According to the log, that file should be there, but if you can't find it, you can't find it then.

Give us the new log when you are ready.

Looks good.

Your log is clean.

To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial (http://www.greyknight17.com/spyware.htm#prevent) and use the tools provided.

Are there any problems now? If not, you should be set to go.
