Please check HJT log
Hi,
I did a clean install of XP 2 days ago, unfortunately the kdis surfed before I could install all of the usual spyware tools. I followed the directions on the KRC anti-spyware tutorial, so have run: Online virus scan, CWShredder, adaware in safe mode, and spybot s & d. CWS found nothing, adaware found 156 items, spybot found 6 (all of which I deleted). I initially did all this because the computer was running slow, there was a starware toolbar in explorer that we didn't put there, multiple explorer windows were opening when connecting to the net, and the computer was trying to dial out constantly. This is the HJT log: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 2:58:41 PM, on 15/03/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP2, v.2082 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2082) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG\avgamsvr.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG\avgupsvc.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Agnitum\OUTPOS~1\outpost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG\avgcc.exe C:\WINDOWS\SOUNDMAN.EXE C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP Share-to-Web\hpgs2wnd.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG\avgemc.exe C:\WINDOWS\holxhd.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\bin\hpobnz08.exe C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\bin\hposol08.exe C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP Share-to-Web\hpgs2wnf.exe C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\bin\hpoevm08.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\HPZipm12.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuauclt.exe C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\Bin\hpoSTS08.exe C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing O2 - BHO: AcroIEHlprObj Class - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Reader\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.ocx O2 - BHO: (no name) - {53707962-6F74-2D53-2644-206D7942484F} - C:\PROGRA~1\SPYBOT~1\SDHelper.dll O3 - Toolbar: &Radio - {8E718888-423F-11D2-876E-00A0C9082467} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\msdxm.ocx O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BluetoothAuthenticationAgent] rundll32.exe bthprops.cpl,,BluetoothAuthenticationAgent O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AVG7_CC] C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG\avgcc.exe /STARTUP O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SoundMan] SOUNDMAN.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Outpost Firewall] C:\Program Files\Agnitum\Outpost Firewall\outpost.exe /waitservice O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Share-to-Web Namespace Daemon] C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP Share-to-Web\hpgs2wnd.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AVG7_EMC] C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG\avgemc.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dcPt] C:\WINDOWS\holxhd.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Tsl2] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\tsa\tsl2.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [CTFMON.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background O4 - Global Startup: hp psc 2000 Series.lnk = C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\bin\hpobnz08.exe O4 - Global Startup: IDW Logging Tool.lnk = C:\WINDOWS\system32\idwlog.exe O4 - Global Startup: officejet 6100.lnk = ? Here we go...
Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.
Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked. Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point. For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep). Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it): C:\WINDOWS\holxhd.exe Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist: TSA - Traveling Salesman (or something like that) Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dcPt] C:\WINDOWS\holxhd.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Tsl2] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\tsa\tsl2.exe Delete the following Files indicated in RED and Folders indicated in BLUE if they still exist. C:\WINDOWS\holxhd.exe C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\tsa\ Reboot into Normal Mode and run new HijackThis scan. If there were some entries that didn't show up in Safe Mode, you may check and fix those that appear now in normal mode (if you do that, make sure to run a new scan again). Save the log file and post the contents of the LOG file in the forum. The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link don't work) and install it. Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes. |

Looks good...
Your log is clean. If you disabled System Restore, make sure to enable it now.
To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial (http://www.greyknight17.com/spyware.htm#prevent) and use the tools provided. Are there any problems now? If not, you should be set to go. |
