Possible Hijacking - HJT log included
Am having problems - have dial-up connection that has recently been very slow even though network status indicates usual 44Kbps. With a network connection but no browser open, the network status indicates constant sending and receiving. I turned off Windows Update temporarily but this did not help. Have performed all actions from the KRC Anti-Spyware Tutorial. Can someone please look at the following HJT logfile and advise if it appears alright? Thanks!

Hello Zym,
Your log is clean. Regarding the communication you are seeing, bear in mind that even though your PC has no browsers running, there is still communication in the background between any programs that may be running. For example, on one PC Zonealarm reports that MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger and AIM are all communicating with the outside world without ANY browsers running whatsoever. What you are seeing is normal. |

That's good to hear! I appreciate your looking into this. One thing that I found was that there was an application named LiveUpdate running. This is apparently not the same as the the LiveUpdate from my Norton/Symantec antivirus application. It kept asking for a connection to openwares?.org address. This application apparently updates selected applications, but I don't know which ones. I uninstalled it and removed the program and noticed an immediate improvement. Was very confusing to me - especially thinking that it had something to do with Norton. Again, thanks!
