red circle with x in taskbar/part 2

I was trying to download a tv show and I got this box (looked like Win firewall that said I had a virus, "security alert center") my avast also went off and i clicked send to chest and on the win firewall box i clicked "enable" and it started to scan my system...i was confused and "closed the box. when i restarted my comp i see the red circle with the x. every 5 minutes a window pops up stating that i have a virus and another window pops up showing a "windows" program" that i should download.

I ran avast and it found 4 viruses which i deleted. I have spybot, but cannot find it in my programs list to run a scan...so, I looked up a few forums before coming here and i read to install install Hijack this. I would appreciate any help. I work from home and need my computer desperately! Thanks!!

ok..i got a message from Amateur stating that I needed to follow the "First steps" on what to do before prec

1. I deleted the secondary antivirus program. I now only have Avast
2. I changed all password for financial institutions using another computer
3. when i get to the next step to download DDS, I get this message:

C:\Documents and Settings\Administratr\Desktop\dds.scr is not a valid Win 32 application

I used Firefox to download from this site, so I then tried IE8 and I couldn't download because of my "security settings"

I am now totally lost! Please help. I am trying my best to follow the forum rules, but I cannot even get the "First Steps" completed.

Re: red circle with x in taskbar/part 2

Hi,

Please do the following:

Please download exeHelper to your desktop.
Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix.
A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.
Post the contents of log.txt (Will be created in the directory where you ran exeHelper.com)
Note: If the window shows a message that says "Error deleting file", please re-run the program before posting a log - and post the two logs together (they will both be in the one file).

NEXT
  • Please save Win32kDiag to your desktop.
  • Double-click on it to run a scan.
  • When it's finished, there will be a log called Win32kDiag.txt on your desktop.
  • Please open it with notepad and post the contents here.

Please try running the GMER program from the "first steps" requirements....please try running it in safemode if it will not run in normal mode.
