Every once in a while, while browsing random websites,
I get a pop up message saying "Your computer is under attack!" or something like "Your computer is infected!" It gives me the option to press OK or Cancel, I always just X out of the window, then it gives me pop-ups, and this is what pops up after. ![]() This only happens every once in a while, and my computer is still running smoothly, it just bothers me thinking that there might be something wrong with it, with my files at stake. So does anyone know if this is a virus? Should I back up my files to be safe? Or just harmless pop-up advertisements? ![]() EDIT: After posting this, I realized it might be suited better in the "General Computer Security" section. Re: Is This a Virus?
This is an indication of an active rogue "security" program,SoftVeteran, new in recent days, latest in the Wini family of Rogues. Rogues such as these typically get installed via trojans which are in fact fake video codecs or flash updates, purportedly to watch online video. Some are challenging to remove, some are less so.
If you need assistance in removing this... We want all our members to perform the steps outlined in the link I'll give you below, before posting for assistance. There's a sticky at the top of this forum, and a Quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please follow our pre-posting process outlined here: NEW INSTRUCTIONS - Read This Before Posting For Malware Removal Help After running through all the steps, you shall have a proper set of logs. Please post them in a new topic, as this one shall be closed. If you have trouble with one of the steps, simply move on to the next one, and make note of it in your reply. Please note that the Virus/Trojan/Spyware Help forum is extremely busy, and it may take a while to receive a reply.
