Hello Molly1173 and welcome to TSF
Please print out or copy this page to Notepad in order to assist you when carrying out the following instructions. To turn off System Restore Click Start > Right Click My Computer > Properties. Click the System Restore tab and Check "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives". Click Apply. When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click Yes to do this then Click OK. You are using an outdated version of Hijack This. Please download and install the latest version by going to this Site Please download Ad-aware SE and install it if you don't have it already. Make sure it's the newest version and check for any updates before running it. Also go here to get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. To run this tool, go into Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection. Also make sure to customize the settings in Ad-aware for better scan results. Run the scan and fix everything that it finds. Download and install Spybot S&D if you don't have it already. Run Spybot and click on the 'Search for Updates' button. Install any updates that are available. Next click on the 'Check for Problems' button. Let it run the scan. If it finds something, check all those in RED and hit the Fix Selected Problems button. Exit Spybot. If you keep getting the DSO Exploit entries, even after you updated Windows and fixed them, then download the Spybot DSO Exploit Fix and install it over the current Spybot installation. Download CWShredder and run it. Click on 'I Agree' button if you agree with it. Click on 'Fix' (it will automatically fix anything it finds for you) and OK. If it asks if you want to delete a certain random file, choose No and post that filename here. Let it finish the scan and then hit Next and Exit. Go to My Computer >Tools >Folder Options >View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing / visible. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files option. Reboot your system in Safe Mode (By repeatedly tapping the F8 key until the menu appears). Go into Hijack This->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click “Kill process” for each one (You must kill them one at a time). C:\WINDOWS\inet10050\services.exe Open Hijack This and click on Scan. Check the following entries (make sure you do not miss any) R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://homepage.com_%00@www.e-finder.cc/search/ (obfuscated) R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.topfivesearch.com/sidesearch.asp R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.search-paga.com/10050/ R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.topfivesearch.com/sidesearch.asp R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://homepage.com_%00@www.e-finder.cc/hp/ (obfuscated) R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://homepage.com_%00@www.e-finder.cc/search/ (obfuscated) R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = http://homepage.com_%00@www.e-finder.cc/search/ (obfuscated) R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,(Default) = http://homepage.com_%00@www.e-finder.cc/search/ (obfuscated) R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,(Default) = http://homepage.com_%00@www.e-finder.cc/search/ (obfuscated) R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://homepage.com_%00@www.e-finder.cc/search/ (obfuscated) F3 - REG:win.ini: run=C:\WINDOWS\inet10050\services.exe O2 - BHO: HBO Class - {5321E378-FFAD-4999-8C62-03CA8155F0B3} - C:\WINDOWS\inet10050\1.02.11.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [xp_system] C:\WINDOWS\inet10050\services.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [xp_system] C:\WINDOWS\inet10050\services.exe O9 - Extra button: WeatherBug - {AF6CABAB-61F9-4f12-A198-B7D41EF1CB52} - C:\Program Files\AWS\WeatherBug\Weather.exe (file missing) (HKCU) O13 - DefaultPrefix: O13 - WWW Prefix: O16 - DPF: {1D4DB7D2-6EC9-47A3-BD87-1E41684E07BB} - http://ak.imgfarm.com/images/nocach...etup1.0.0.8.cab O18 - Filter: text/html - {657F70CB-580A-412A-B71F-AA29DBEAC0C3} - (no file) Please remember to close all other windows, including browsers then click Fix checked. Delete the following Files indicated in RED and Folders indicated in BLUEif they still exist. C:\WINDOWS\inet10050\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\inet10050\1.02.11.dll C:\Program Files\AWS Reboot into Normal Mode and run new HijackThis scan. If there were some entries that didn't show up in Safe Mode, you may check and fix those that appear now in normal mode (if you do that, make sure to run a new scan again). Save the log file and run KRC HijackThis Analyzer in the same folder to get the result.txt log. Just post the contents of the result.txt file in the forum. If you have a fast internet connection (Broadband), run an online scan at Trend Micro or RAV Antivirus. Please select the “autoclean” option when using Trend Micro. |

BTW Molly.....
You have an outdated version of HijackThis. Click here to get the latest version of HijackThis and run it. Before you give us a new log here, if we gave you instructions for a fix, please do the fixes first and then post the new log with this updated version. 1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'. 2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log. 3. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. The result.txt file will open up in Notepad. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. We do not need the original hijackthis.log (unless we ask for it). Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing O16 - DPF: {3C2D91AF-5C74-611B-1033-17EF23765003} - http://69.50.182.94/1/rdgUS896.exe O16 - DPF: {4EB940C1-253A-3944-04CF-5F9303984560} - http://69.50.182.94/1/rdgUS896.exe Reboot into Normal Mode and run new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and run KRC HijackThis Analyzer in the same folder to get the result.txt log. Just post the contents of the result.txt file in the forum.

Your log is clean. If you disabled System Restore, make sure to enable it now.
To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial (http://www.greyknight17.com/spyware.htm#prevent) and use the tools provided. Are there any problems now? If not, you should be set to go.

Thank you SO much. Things were actually running much better even halfway through the first steps you guys gave me. I've completed the process & downloaded the anti-spyware things you recommended. Thanks again!
