Geez where do I start? Um help?

Have been reading your threads and I hope, well I know someone can help me. I have been having problems with my pc for a while now. I KNOW I have some viruses that I cant seem to get rid of thru Norton.

I do not know if my other problem is a security issue, but yesterday my D drive and my E drive disappeared. After doing a system restore, they reappeared, but I keep seeing drive errors. Someone help me plz!

I ran hijack this, here it is, but I dont see a mention of my d drive.

Hi and Welcome
It may help you if you print out or copy this page for easy reference.. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order its listed. If you don't understand please ask before proceeding with the fixes.

Please Keep your browser and all open programs closed (except firewalls and antivirus) when you are carrying out the fixes.

Please do not run HJT on the desktop or a temp folder. Its best run in a dedicated folder of its own.

Turn off System Restore instructions (WinXP)
Rightclick My Computer | Properties | System Restore | check “Turn off System Restore”, <Apply>, <OK>. Reboot. When we have confirmed that your log file is clean, you may renable System Restore and create a new restore point.

SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS.
To show hidden files instructions (WinXP)
Doubleclick My Computer | Tools | Folder Options | View tab
Select Show Hidden Files and Folders
Uncheck Hide extensions for known file types
Uncheck Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
Select Apply to All Folders | Yes | Apply | OK
------------------------------------------------------------------

Download and run SpyBot (check for updates) for a preliminary cleanup first. Some files below may not be present after running the above programs.Full instructions below.

How to setup Spybot Search & Destroy
Download Spybot

Save spybotsd13.exe into its own directory, NOT in a TEMPorary folder or on the Desktop.
I recommend c:/program files/spybot/
Doubleclick spybotsd13.exe. Make sure to direct the program to install in the c:/program files/spybot/ directory, NOT the default directory.
Open Spybot from Start | Programs | Spybot | Spybot S&D
Select <Search for Updates>. Let it install all updates. This is very important!
Select <Immunize>
Select <Check for Problems>
Check all entries that are in RED. Only RED, NOTHING ELSE. For your records, write/print out each item that you have fixed. Date it.
Select <Fix Selected Problems>
Close Spybot//

------------------------------------------------------

Files highlighted in BLACK will need to be removed from your hard drive.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Please start by putting HJT in SAFE MODE. During reboot, tap the F8 key. Select Safe Mode
------------------------------------------------------------------

Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed.

irclass.exe
rend.exe

------------------------------------------------------------------

Have "Hijack This" fix all the following items in the list below by placing a check in the appropriate boxes.Confirm that you have only the listed ones checked, then press <Fix checked> and Close HJT.

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [irclass] C:\WINDOWS\System32\irclass.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [rend] C:\WINDOWS\System32\rend.exe

------------------------------------------------------------------

Open Windows Explorer and delete the following highlighted file/s (or delete the whole (Red) folder if listed).

C:\WINDOWS\System32\irclass.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\rend.exe

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Check that you have carried out all the above steps/fixes and then reboot into Normal Mode and download Cleanup This will clean out your tempory files.

When finished please post a new log......

Thank you. I read this last night, but had to wait till I came to work so I can print the instructions. So I will try to repair tonight.

I have another question. I have Norton, it was unable to delete something called sah uninstall.exe. It always says Delete failed. Now everytime I scan it always tells me I have a virus called counter.exe. Yet when I ran the Trend online one, it didnt detect any viruses. Help??

If you know the location of these two files:

sah uninstall.exe
counter.exe

It's OK to manualy delete them.

Get thru the instructions and we'll deal with them later, if necessary.

If you are worried about it you can leave it and just carry on as normal.

Thanks Pancake, I finally had a chance to do the repairs... By the way I fixed my system errors. It seems there was a problem with the DVD/CD rom, that was causing everything. I fixed it by taking the drive out and taking out the quarter, nickel and 2 pennies out of it, that my 3 year old stuck in there on Monday.... Anyways here is the current log.

Your log is clean (and you're 32 cents richer!). If you disabled System Restore, make sure to enable it now.

To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial (http://www.greyknight17.com/spyware.htm#prevent) and use the tools provided.

Are there any problems now? If not, you should be set to go.
