Gmer doesn't work

I went to 'Read this before posting' but the gmer.exe isn't running. I click on it and it thinks for a moment, but eventually nothing happens. It is on my Processes for a while when I open my task manager, but nothing other than that. Any help?

I know this is only for logs so if this is supposed to be somewhere else, please direct me.

Hi -

To try to help you along...

Try renaming gmer. If that doesn't help, use this version instead.

Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here to your desktop.

Double click the exe file.
If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO, then use the following settings for a more complete scan.

In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following ...
- Sections
- IAT/EAT
- Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
- Show All (don't miss this one)
Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file which cannot be uploaded to your post.
Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and post it in reply along with the other logs. Please create a new topic, as I have as many open topics as I can effectively handle right now.

**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries
