Virus Help

Recently whenever I try to open Limewire it crashes for a few minutes, then it doesn't open. It says that I do not have it excepted on my firewall, which I do. Also whenever I open IE it loops from a microsoft.com redirection page to msn.com, my home page is set to google.co.uk.

Is there any chance that I could have a virus or some sort, if so, is there any anti-virus I could use to find it.

I currently have AVG anti-virus. I recently installed and uninstalled Avira Antivir because I was having problems with that.

I'm currently running on Windows XP SP3.

Thanks for any help I could get.

Re: Virus Help

Hello and welcome to TSF.

LimeWire is a p2p file sharing program which can make you vulnerable to data and identity theft. Please read this sticky:

Perils of P2P File Sharing

I would strongly urge you to remove it via Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel as suggested in our
NEW INSTRUCTIONS - Read This Before Posting For Malware Removal Help page.

We cannot give you any advice without seeing the required logs. We want all our members to perform the steps outlined in the link given below, before posting for assistance. There's a sticky at the top of this forum, and a

link at the top of each page.

Please follow our pre-posting process outlined here:

After running through all the steps, you shall have a proper set of logs. Please post them in a new topic, as this one shall be closed.

If you have trouble with one of the steps, simply move on to the next one, and make note of it in your reply.
