virus causing svchost.exe error?
Hi
I'm new to the forum and have tried searching other posts for help with my problem but no solutions yet work. From the moment the laptop (we got in in 2005, a Dell, running XP) is turned on and every time we try and do anything at all we get: SVChost.exe error "instruction at "0x7564d27e" referenced memory at "0X00000060". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program." We get a variety of different numbers, it's not always those 2. We have no internet connection and thus cannot update our virus protection (Trend Micro), which also is due to expire in 3 days and I'd like to get this sorted before then. I've tried all the usual turning off the Window's updates and the like but that hasn't worked. I checked the history of the Trend Micro and there's a number of Trojan files (mostly .DLL) in quarantine so I assume we have a virus. Without having internet connection is there any way to solve this problem on our own or do we need to take our laptop somewhere? I'm so sick of hearing that bloody beep with that error message! If we ignore it it just builds up and then we have to hit OK dozens of times to get rid of all the error messages! Any suggestions will be very welcome. Thanks very much. |
