Redirect Virus on Search engines
Hi..
Original post Redirect Virus Thanks for taking out time to help out with this. I have a Sony Vaio, running on Windows Vista. I am a student, so i have McAfee Enterprise ver 8.5 by the university. I've been affected by the redirect virus, i.e. when I click on my search results, it lands up on a completely different page. When I hit the back button, I can see some random websites and the word 'testing' and finally my search page. Also, I've noticed that I've been seeing ads of some Vimax enlargement pills all over, even non-search engines. So that seemed weird. The DDS file is below, and I've attached the other two zip files. My system is behaving much better. The search engine virus seems to have gone.. Google is now taking me to my desired website when I click on a result. Thank you so much for your help. I downloaded the latest version of Java as well. The kapersky anti virus scan found 1 threat. I've attached the report. You have been an amazing source of help. Thank you so much. |

Go to Start > Run and copy/paste the following into the Run box and click OK: cmd /c del /a/f/q "C:\Windows\System32\ConTest.dll" A DOS window will open and close again, this is normal. ------------------------------------------------------ Congratulations. Well done! Your logs appear clean. You should be good to go. Please disable McAfee before uninstalling ComboFix and then re-enable it after doing so. Go to Start >> Run and Copy/Paste the following single-line command into the Run box and click OK: combofix /u This will uninstall ComboFix and delete ComboFix's quarantine folder. It will also implement some cleanup procedures, remove old System Restore Points which contain previous infections, and create a fresh, clean System Restore point. Please re-enable your antivirus program and any other antispyware programs disabled earlier if you haven't already. You can safely delete any tools downloaded or any logs, files, and any shortcuts on your desktop that were created during this fix. ------------------------------------------------------ MICROSOFT UPDATES It is very important that you get all of the critical updates for your Operating System and Internet Explorer. Keeping your OS and browser up to date will help make you less susceptible to attacks by Trojans and viruses.
