Nosound Problems
Sorry for my inadequate first post, hopefully this one will be a little more conclusive.
The problem goes like this : Ever since i noticed malware problems on my system, there have been some problems with my sound device. Each time a windows error occurs (it may be each 5 minutes, or each 5 hours etc), suddenly all applications that were not started loose their sound. (If i had winamp started it works until i close it, afterwords it doesn't until i restart the system) This would be the windows error I'm talking about : "Sorry for bothering but, i keep getting this constant error : Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Data the error report contains : Error Signature szAppName : svchost.exe szModName : AcGenral.dll szAppVer : 5.1.2600.2180 szModVer : 5.1.2600.2993 offset : 000116e2" One more thing, I guess it's because of the same reason : The theme keeps changing from windows xp, to windows classic. Re: Nosound Problems
Yes, still having the problem. In the other hand it may be a software problem, but i downlaoded the new driver from the mainboard web-site. I still geting this anoying error.
Paste doesn't work in that text box, and i can't paste those links. Neither can I find them through the system by browsing. Can i attach some snapshots of the error that occurs in my next post ? Hope I'm not bothering or anything. |

Re: Nosound Problems
Hello Codre. Those files are gone. Yes, you can post a screenshot. We need to make sure your system is clean before fixing your sound.
Please copy this page to Notepad and Save it to your Desktop in order to assist you when carrying out the following instructions. Before beginning the fix, read this post completely. If there's anything that you do not understand, kindly ask your questions before proceeding. Ensure that there aren't any opened browsers when you are carrying out the procedures below. It is IMPORTANT that you don't miss a step & perform everything in the correct order/sequence. ------------------------------------------------------ I see you have P2P software ( BitTorrent ) installed on your machine. We are not here to pass judgment on file-sharing as a concept. However, we will warn you that engaging in this activity and having this kind of software installed on your machine will always make you more susceptible to re-infections. It may be contributing to your current situation. This page will give you further information. Please note: Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe. You will be sharing files from uncertified sources, and these are often infected. The bad guys use P2P filesharing as a major conduit to spread their wares. References for the risk of these programs are here, here, and here. I would strongly recommend that you uninstall it, however that choice is up to you. If you choose to remove this program, you can do so via Control Panel >> Add or Remove Programs. ------------------------------------------------------ Go Start > Run and copy/paste the following single-line command into the Run box and click OK: sc delete EraserUtilDrv10821 A DOS window will open and close again, this is normal. Repeat for this command: sc delete EraserUtilDrv10910 ------------------------------------------------------ Open Notepad and copy/paste the entire contents of the codebox below into Notepad (don't forget to copy and paste REGEDIT4): Code:
REGEDIT4 [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce] "ShowDeskFix"="shell32.dll" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\security center] "AntiVirusDisableNotify"=dword:00000000 "UpdatesDisableNotify"=dword:00000000 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\security center\Monitoring\SymantecAntiVirus] "DisableMonitoring"=dword:00000000 It should look like this: Double-click on fix.reg and choose Yes to merge/add it to the registry. Please delete the file afterwards. ------------------------------------------------------ Please download ATF-Cleaner by Atribune and Save it to your Desktop.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu. ------------------------------------------------------ Please run this online scan to help look for remnants. Establish an internet connection & perform an online scan at Kaspersky Online Scanner Ensure your external and/or USB drives are inserted during the scan. Click Accept, when prompted to download and install the program files and database of malware definitions.
![]() **Note** To optimize scanning time and produce a more sensible report for review:

Re: Nosound Problems
Hello again, Codre. It seems you are way behind in your Windows/Security Updates. Is there a reason for this?
Let's try to get rid of that error. Please go to Windows Update and do a custom scan for updates. If KB958644 is available, please install it and restart the computer. Let me know if the problem persists. If that update is not offered, go to the Windows Update Catalog and search for KB958644 Add the download for your system to the basket, download it, and install. Reboot when done and let me know the results. Is your sound back? ------------------------------------------------------ If Kaspersky is still not working, try one of these: Go here to run an online scannner from ESET.
If you have trouble with your computer blocking the ActiveX, go here and temporarily turn the feature off: http://www.windowsreference.com/inte...the-publisher/ Remember to turn it back on after the scan! ------------------------------------------------------ Perform an online scan with Panda ActiveScan
To optimize scanning time and produce a more sensible report for review:

Re: Nosound Problems
Kaspersky seems to be running in IExplorer, but after 6 hours of scanning only 30% was finished ... I also had some ISP problems and coulden't finish the task. I will hopefully finish it today.

Re: Nosound Problems
My network still has some problems so i can barely connect to the internet for a while. The thing is i am not getting those no-sound errors anymore.
Could it be because of theese commands : sc delete EraserUtilDrv10821 sc delete EraserUtilDrv10910 ? or maybe the update helped. I will try to scan anytime now .. to see if there is anything wrong. But in the mean time I thank you very much ! |

Re: Nosound Problems
You're welcome, Codre.
Sorry you are having ISP trouble. That can be terribly frustrating. It was the update that fixed your sound. Let me know when you complete a scan. |

Re: Nosound Problems
Hello again, Codre.
Empty this entire Folder. It's where Symantec keeps it's renamed quarantined files: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition\7.5\Quarantine Don't delete the folder, just empty it. Empty your Recycle Bin if it does not do so automatically. ------------------------------------------------------ Without doing a complete scan on all of your drives, I can't say for sure your system is totally clean. But if you scanned through all your main drives, and you find it acceptable, we can call it done. I would still scan those other drives when you have time. ------------------------------------------------------ Congratulations. Well done! Your logs appear clean. You should be good to go. Please disable Symantec before uninstalling ComboFix and then re-enable it after doing so. Go to Start >> Run and Copy/Paste the following single-line command into the Run box and click OK: combofix /u This will uninstall ComboFix and delete ComboFix's quarantine folder. It will also implement some cleanup procedures, remove old System Restore Points which contain previous infections, and create a fresh, clean System Restore Point. Please re-enable your antivirus program and any other antispyware programs disabled earlier if you haven't already. You can safely delete any tools downloaded or any logs, files, and any shortcuts on your desktop that were created during this fix. ------------------------------------------------------ MICROSOFT UPDATES It is very important that you get all of the critical updates for your Operating System and Internet Explorer. Keeping your OS and browser up to date will help make you less susceptible to attacks by Trojans and viruses. Please go to Microsoft and download all the critical updates to help prevent possible re-infection. SPYWARE PREVENTION This is a good time to set up protection against further attacks. In light of your recent problem, I'm sure you'd like to avoid any future infections. Please read these well written articles: To help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programs if you do not already have them:
