Help, need it I do.

I've had my HP for less than a year and I have had to replace the hard drive b/c hp gave me a "faulty" one. Now my screen light turns off for no reason. It's not when I try to scan it or anything, it just randomly shuts off. I recently updated everything for my computer as asked and it told me my SpySweeper wasn't compatible so it gave me a link that I went to and downloaded stuff from and it still doesn't work. Also got an alert yesterday saying I needed "critical updates" it didn't look legit so I didn't download anything but somethign popped up when i went to close it asking if I wanted to "continue" the download. I said no but now now all this is happeneing. I followed the steps and now when I do my Hijack this it gives me a warning that something isn't able to run and I may have to fix it manually. I'm a student with 3 online classes and NEED it all up to par before finals roll around in a couple weeks!
