Please help with log
Hello,
My pc has slowed to a crawl with frequent crashes. My popup stopper periodically is disabled and I am having frequent zedo.com popups. I currently use AVG's antivirus program, Spybot, Adaware, and Zone Alarm. thank you in advance. HJT log... Open HijackThis *Click on the "Configure" button on the bottom right *Click on the tab "Misc Tools" *Click on the Box that says "Open Uninstall Manager" *Click on the button "Save list" The list will automatically be saved in your HijackThis folder. Thank you. I've completed the above steps with the exception of uninstalling Symantec KB-DocID:2003093015493306, it did not exist in add/remove programs. Things seem to be running more efficiently and as of this posting I am not getting zedo popups.

That is good to hear, but I am a bit surprised that you did not find that Symantec entry in your Add or Remove programs as I do see it listed.
Regardless, there is a Symantec remnant in your log and it's best you remove it completely: Quote:

That did the trick.
 Your logs are clean. If there aren't any more problems, please continue with these final instructions and helpful links: Reset hidden/system files and folders Click Start. * Open My Computer. * Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options. * Select the View tab. * Deselect the Show hidden files and folders option. * Select the Hide file extensions for known types option. * Select the Hide protected operating system files option. Click Yes to confirm. Click OK. ============================================ To help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programs if you do not already have them: McAfee Site Advisor--free version. The folks there check out websites and based on their findings, rate it as Safe, Unknown, Caution, or Bad. IESpyAD Zoned Out to block access to malicious websites so you cannot be redirected to them from an infected site or email. This severely impairs attempts to infect your system as it basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites. ============================================ I'm sure you'd like to avoid any future infection. Please take a look at these well written articles: PC Safety and Security--What Do I Need? Think Prevention **Be very wary with any security software that is advertised in popups or in other ways.
