HJT Log - Windows Error
As of the past few days, I've been having a windows error pop up, only it's blank, after a bit of searching on google it sounds like it's spyware, and since Spybot doesn't pick it up, I'm posting here.
The error looks like this: ![]() ![]() And here's my HJT log: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 21:48:26, on 05/10/2008 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MsMpEng.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZoneLabs\vsmon.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 2007\aawservice.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgamsvr.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgupsvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\CTsvcCDA.exe C:\Program Files\Diskeeper Corporation\Diskeeper\DkService.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\InterVideo\RegMgr\iviRegMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero8\Nero BackItUp\NBService.exe C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\nTune\nTuneService.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\nvsvc32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Thomson\SpeedTouch USB\Dragdiag.exe C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zlclient.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Rundll32.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgcc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\ISUSPM.exe C:\Program Files\Creative\Creative ZEN\ZEN Media Explorer\CTCheck.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\Creative\Shared Files\CTSched.exe C:\Program Files\PC Connectivity Solution\ServiceLayer.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger\usnsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger\msnmsgr.exe C:\Program Files\mIRC\mirc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\wrubsfsn.exe C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\sdgfgnan\cfkrcvex.exe C:\Warhammer Online - Re: HJT Log - Windows Error
The infection I originally saw is now gone, and ComboFix did not remove it. To save me some time here, what steps have you already taken in between waiting for a reply from us?

Re: HJT Log - Windows Error
Alright then, let's run an online scan and see if any remnants are still lurking about.
It can take some time, so please be patient and allow it to run it's full course: Using Internet Explorer or Firefox, visit http://www.kaspersky.com/kos/eng/par...avwebscan.html 1. Click Accept, when prompted to download and install the program files and database of malware definitions. 2. To optimize scanning time and produce a more sensible report for review:
3. Click Run at the Security prompt. The program will then begin downloading and installing and will also update the database. Please be patient as this can take several minutes.
Also, how is the system behaving? What issues remain? |

Re: HJT Log - Windows Error
That is odd. As I'm not seeing any malware any longer and your system seems to be operating as expected now, let's wrap this up.
Please--be sure to uninstall ComboFix as instructed. The uninstall process performs some necessary routines. Additionally, this tool is not to be used as an everday anti malware scanning program. The following procedure will clear out the backups and quarantines created by the fix. It will also reset your System Restore by flushing out previous restore points (which contain the infections) and create a new restore point. Click Start > Run and copy/paste, or type the following bolded text into the Run box and click OK: ComboFix /u -------------------------------------------------------------------- To help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programs if you do not already have them: McAfee Site Advisor--free version. The folks there check out websites and based on their findings, rate it as Safe, Unknown, Caution, or Bad. SpywareBlaster 4.0 to help prevent spyware from installing in the first place. Install & update SpywareBlaster with the latest definitions. After you have updated, click the button - enable protection for all unprotected items.
IESpyAD Zoned Out to block access to malicious websites so you cannot be redirected to them from an infected site or email. This severely impairs attempts to infect your system as it basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites. Update, and scan with your onboard Anti Malware and Anti Virus programs regularly. Without regular updates you will not be protected when new malicious programs are released. In light of your recent issue, I'm sure you'd like to avoid any future infections. Please take a look at these well written articles: PC Safety and Security--What Do I Need? Think Prevention **Be very wary with any security software that is advertised in popups or in other ways. They are not only usually of no use, but often have malware in them. ----------------------------------------------------- Follow the list above and the potential for infection will reduce dramatically. **Kindly respond one more time and let me know if we may consider this thread resolved. |

Re: HJT Log - Windows Error
Mystery solved. ComboFix did take it out in runs previous to the log you posted for me. The log you posted was completed at 14:30:59.3, and in going over this thread again, I see the removal took place during the run about an hour before that one - @ 13:33.
![]() Take care and safe surfing, Kondora.
