[SOLVED] Google search result is redirected ('Jump').
SYMPTOM: I do a search on Google, click on a result hyperlink, and (sometimes, not always) the word 'jump' appears on the tab, and I am redirected to a completely different website from the hyperlink address!
RESEARCH: This indicated that this 'jump' virus was called 'wareout' so I ran a program called 'Fixwareout.exe' - it didn't fix it. I see you already have several threads on this problem, so I've taken some of the logical steps: JAVA: I have removed old versions of Java (in Add/Remove Programs), installed the latest version of Java, and emptied the various caches in IE7 and FF3. Re: Google search result is redirected ('Jump').
UPDATE:
As I urgently need to resolve this problem so that I can do my job(!), I have done the following: 1. Run regedit, searched for 'hupoxuc' (as found by kaspersky-see logfile) and deleted the key relating to it. 2. Rebooted. 3. Then I went into Program Files and was able to delete the 'hupoxuc' folder and the file it contained, 'ShGenSet.dll'. Early days I know, but the problem seems to have gone... |

Re: [SOLVED] Google search result is redirected ('Jump').
Yes, this problem does appear to have been resolved - there have been no re-occurrences of it.
I hope this solution is helpful for others too. I appreciate that editing the registry needs to be approached with care, but in this case it appears to have worked. Please close the thread. |
