NOW WHAT DO I DO? IT TOOK MY DESKTOP AND SAYS I NEED SOME ANTIVIRUS. I RAN AVG AND IT DIDNT FIND ANYTHING. MY CTRL, ALT, DEL STIL WORKS.

Had you finished your previous thread here you would probably not be back in this forum seeking help again so soon.

You have new infections....perhaps you need to also reassess the online behavior of all who use this machine, as well as be more vigilant about what gets downloaded and executed on the machine.

Our intent is to help members clean their machines, and educate them so that it never happens again, not continually aid the same users.

Do you intend to complete the procedures until we give you the "all clear" ?

i ran malware bytes anti mal ware. it says it got rid of everything and im not having any other problems other then the fact that my internet is outrageously slow.

Thanks. Also please do this:

Create an uninstall list:
  • Open HiJackThis
  • Click on the button " Open the Misc Tools section"
  • Click on the Box that says "Open Uninstall Manager"
  • Click on the button "Save list"
  • Copy and past the List from the notepad file into your post

This is quite likely the main reason your computer is infected. Visiting cracksites/warezsites - and other questionable/illegal sites is always a risk.

Even a single click on the site can drop multiple forms of very serious malware, many of which disable your onboard protection, and System Restore. Don't think: "I have a good Antivirus and Firewall installed, they will protect me" - because that's not true... and even before you know it, your Antivirus and Firewall may become disabled by the malware which has now found its way on your system.

P2P - I see you have P2P software ( Limewire ) installed on your machine. We are not here to pass judgment on file-sharing as a concept. However, we will warn you that engaging in this activity and having this kind of software installed on your machine will always make you more susceptible to re-infections. It may be contributing to your current situation. This page will give you further information.

Please note: Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe. You will be sharing files from uncertified sources, and these are often infected. The bad guys use P2P filesharing as a major conduit to spread their wares.

I would strongly recommend that you uninstall this. You can do so via Control Panel >> Add or Remove Programs.

In light of the volume of malware found by mbam, it would be prudent to run another tool. In the case that you have this already, I need you to delete any version of ComboFix.exe you may have on the machine.

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery mode if needed. This allows us to help you in the case that your computer has a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

As part of installing the Recovery Console, ComboFix will begin to run. Follow the prompts to install the Recovery Console. Your desktop may disappear. This is normal. It will return.

Once the Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see a message that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.



Please continue as follows:

Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Post the log from ComboFix when you've accomplished that, along with a new HijackThis log.

Please go to Start > Run and copy/paste the following, then press Enter:

C:\QooBox\Add-Remove Programs.txt

A text file should open. Please post the contents of that file in your next reply.

If you have any questions along the way, STOP and ask them before proceeding.

im having trouble with this. as you know i already installed the recovery counsole and i had the same problem when i installed it before whenever i drag that file onto combo fix i get just an empty blue box

I want you to do these things:

Ensure there is no folder, C:\ComboFix Delete it if it exists

Ensure you have a new copy of ComboFix.

Ensure you have a new copy of the Recovery Console package, from this link:

Boot into Safe mode, and drop the package onto ComboFix there. Allow ComboFix to run according to the previous instructions.

To boot into Safe Mode:

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Login on your usual account.

I see....from your last logs, it was not apparent that Recovery Console was ever installed.

Since it is installed, please disable your AntiVirus applications, and run ComboFix by doubleclicking on it. Post the log produced.
